Ich möchte mal eine Sache explizit ansprechen, die gerade ein bisschen untergeht. Wir als Hacker-Community leben ja seit vielen Jahren mit der praktischen Gewissheit, dass die Geheimdienste das Internet so gut wie komplett abschnorcheln. Wir wissen einfach, was geht, und es braucht ja keinen Raketentechniker für den Gedankengang, dass wenn es möglich ist, es auch einige Geheimdienste machen werden. Teuer spielt keine Rolle, das wissen wir spätestens aus dem Kalten Krieg (die Geschichte von solchen Spezialubooten kursierte jahrelang, bevor sie es zur New York Times und in die Wikipedia schaffte). Wenn man sich jetzt das bekannt gewordene Ausmaß des Abschnorchelns anguckt, ist niemand wirklich überrascht aus der Technik-Community, wir haben darüber seit vielen Jahren auf den CCC-Kongressen geredet. Aber, und das ist, was ich jetzt mal sagen möchte: Wir haben gegengesteuert. Nein, wir haben nicht verhindern können, dass die Geheimdienste alles tun, um unsere Daten zu klauen. Aber wir haben freie Software geschaffen. Und ich meine jetzt nicht nur PGP und TrueCrypt. Wir als Community haben auch FreeBSD und Linux geschaffen, wir haben Firefox als Open Source Browser, wir haben Jabber-Clients noch und nöcher, wir haben OpenSSL und co. Jede einzelne dieser Technologien hat Schwächen, keine Frage. Aber stellt euch mal vor, das gäbe es alles nicht!

Wie so nach und nach alle schönen Verschwörungstheorien, für die Leute über Jahrzehnte als paranoide Spinner verunglimpft wurden, sich als wahr herausstellen. Die Existenz der NSA war jahrelang eine Verschwörungstheorie, dann Echelon, dann dass sie auch Amis abhören. Das Nato-Stay-Behind-Netzwerk war Verschwörungstheorie. Dass die Polizei Undercover-Cops als Provokateure einsetzt, um einen Vorwand zu schaffen, Demonstranten plattzuprügeln, war lange Jahre eine Verschwörungstheorie. Dass auch der Westen unsere Post gelesen hat, nicht nur der Osten, war jahrelang Verschwörungstheorie. Dass die CDU sich über Schwarzgeld finanziert. Dass Atomkraftwerke gefährlich sind und in die Luft fliegen können. Dass in Militärlabors Krankheitserreger tiefergelegt werden, für höhere Tödlichkeit, zum Einsatz im Krieg. Dass Regierungen Gehirnwäsche-Programme haben. Bewaffnete Raumstationen. Orbitale Laserwaffen. Dass Entwicklungshilfe Industrieförderung ist. Dass vorgeblich humanitäre Kriege tatsächlich aus handfesten imperialistischen Gründen wie Ölrechte geführt werden. Hey, sogar dass der Westen in fernen Ländern an Putschen beteiligt ist, war mal nur eine Verschwörungstheorie. Oder dass Geheimdienste Drogen schmuggeln.

So langsam werden die Theorien knapp, die sich noch nicht als wahr herausgestellt haben. Was kommt als nächstes? Queen Elizabeth ist wirklich ein außerirdisches Reptil?!

Aber die größte kognitive Dissonanz tut sich gerade zwischen „wir hören seit Jahren insgeheim die gesamte Bevölkerung ab“ und „Bradley Manning muss wegen Verrats lebenslänglich ins Gefängnis, weil er der Presse die Wahrheit verraten hat“ auf, finde ich. Wie die ihr Abhör-Programm mit der gleichen „das ist für die nationale Sicherheit“-Floskel begründen wie ihr Verhalten gegenüber dem Manning. Erst „du bekloppter Verschwörungstheoretiker“, dann kommen Beweise raus, und dann, nahtlos, haben es alle schon immer gewusst. Achtet mal drauf. Niemand wird sich in ein paar Wochen noch daran erinnern können, andere Leute als Verschwörungstheoretiker abgetan zu haben, weil sie behauptet haben, die NSA höre auch Amerikaner ab. Aus unserer Sicht in Europa kann das ja eh wurscht sein, dass wir alle abgehört werden ist ja schon seit den 80er Jahren keine Verschwörungstheorie mehr.

Many people are afraid to run a Tor exit node. Note: An exit node is NOT the same as a relay! Only on exit nodes users from the Tor network are allowed to access the rest of the internet anonymously, which can be dangerous and prone to abuse. But Tor relays keep their traffic inside the Tor network. I’m running such a Tor relay since february. Now, I’m considering running an exit node.

I asked my hoster:

Am I allowed to run a Tor exit node?

They answered:

Dear Mr. Hohl,

For now our ToS allows Tor nodes. but please be advised they are really easy to abuse.
We will try to protect the network with our firewall in case of problems (we already experienced spam from ToR networks).
In any case a ticket will be opened upon abuse case and we will try to keep both sides confidentiality during negotiation.

Rückblick

Ein Blick aufs Inhaltsverzeichnis.

Wir gingen bei eisiger Kälte von minus ∞*∞^∞*10Googolplexplexplex Grad unter Null in Zürich demonstrieren. Gegen ACTA. Erfolgreich: ACTA ist vom Tisch! Und was lernen wir daraus? Wenn nur genug Leute Stunk machen, dann bewirkt das wirklich was! Sensationell, das zu sehen. Macht bitte weiter! Wir haben noch ein paar Grosskonzerne, die ich gerne zerschmettert sehen würde. Hier ist der 10 Punkteplan für das Handeln. Hoffentlich sieht dann die Welt in 19 Jahren besser aus.

„Die Meute ist über ACTA hergefallen und hat gewonnen.“ Ganz recht. Aber – ist das Demokratie? Wenn der Staat sich daran stört, dass wir uns wehren? Der Staat gehört abgeschafft! Kontrolle und Autorität sind veraltete Formen des Zusammenlebens. Lasst uns eine Anarchie gründen!

Natürlich mögen die es nicht, wenn wir uns antiautoritär Verhalten. Denn antiautoritäres Verhalten = geisteskrank. Wir sollen unser Hirni in Strukturen pressen und Fackausweise machen. Dabei ist Schule Energieverschwendung.

Die können uns mal, mit ihrer Zensur. Daten sind essenziell. Daten müssen fliessen. Daten sind weder gut noch schlecht. Daten sind frei. The principles of datalove. Ich mag hochwertige Produkte, die lange halten, liebe Logitech. Hochwertige Mäuse. Oder echte Bücher aus Papier. Ganz besonders Tagebücher. Schreibt eure eigenen Tagebücher! Macht mehr Blogs! Ihr könnt und dürft über alles schreiben. Zum Beispiel über Erlebnisse beim Knochenbrecher. Oder über einen Selbstversuch mit Ritalin.

Selbstverständlich dürft ihr auch über Festivals schreiben. Zum Beispiel über das Feuerfestival. (Kommt ihr nächstes Jahr auch?) Auch mehrteilige Blogbeiträge über das Boom Festival sind erlaubt. Wer sich daran stört, soll seine Fresse halten und sein eigenes Tagebuch schreiben. Ich hab ein Problem, wenn die Menschen nicht wahrhaftig, echt, integer sind. Nicht das machen, was sie sagen. Obama zum Beispiel. Dieser Scheissneger labert seit Jahren von „CHAAAANGE, YIZZ WEH KÄHN.“ Und macht einfach weiter mit dem Krieg. Dabei mögen der Iran und Israel sich ganz gut.

Euer Internet ist nur geborgt! Und wer kein Facebook Profil hat, macht sich verdächtig. Die Regierung fordert Zwang zum Entschlüsseln.

Aber hey, wir wehren uns! Wir bauen ein kryptographisches Vertrauensnetzwerk auf. Wir sind Piraten. Roflcopter gtfo! Unser Verschlüsselungsnetzwerk feuert aus tausend Rohren. Einblick

Einen Weg finden. Den Weg gehen. Das war mein Motto 2012. Der Weg – die Heldenreise.

So wie ich vor einem Jahr im Rückblick, Einblick, Ausblick geschrieben habe:

Lass die Heldenreise beginnen.

Und was ist passiert? Genau das!
Mind = blown.
Am Boom Festival wurden mir die Konzepte der Heldenreise mehrfach auf eindrückliche Weise erläutert, und mir wurde klar: Ich bin selbst auf der Reise, an diesem Festival. Ich gehe in unbekanntes Gebiet, mache Erfahrungen, bringe sie zurück und teile sie der Welt mit. Das ist genau das Konzept.

Und das wird sich wiederholen. Für immer.

Ausblick

Der Weg, den ich gegangen bin, geht weiter. Ich komme nun an ein Portal. Es ist klar, was folgt: Ich werde im nächsten Jahr 29.5 Jahre alt. Saturn’s Return. Und verdammt Leute, ich bin nervös. Was kommt da auf mich zu? Mein Leben wird auf einen Prüfstein gelegt. Ob ich das bestehe? Es ist wie eine Achterbahnschiene. Irgendwann geht’s runter. Wird’s schlimm? Ich will noch gar nicht viel dazu sagen. Wir werden sehen.
