Du warst es leid, wie ein Kind behandelt zu werden. Erinnerst Du Dich daran, wie man sich fühlt, wenn einen jeder, der älter und größer ist als man selbst, kontrollieren will, als wären Alter und Größe gleichbedeutend mit Autorität?

Immer wieder haben Eltern, Lehrer, Trainer, Pfadfinderführer und Geistliche ihre Position ausgenutzt, um in Dein Privatleben einzudringen, Dir ihre Erwartungen für Deine Zukunft aufzudrängen und Deine Anpassung an überholte Werte zu erzwingen. Wenn diese Erwachsenen ihre Hoffnungen, Träume und Wünsche an die Stelle Deiner eigenen setzten, taten sie das nach eigener Aussage »zu Deinem Besten« oder »weil mir Dein Interesse am Herzen liegt«. Manchmal stimmte das zwar, aber wir alle erinnern uns an andere Gelegenheiten, bei denen es nicht stimmte – bei denen »weil ich es Dir sage« nicht genug war und »eines Tages wirst Du mir dankbar sein« hohl klang. Als Heranwachsende haben wir alle diese abgedroschenen Sätze gehört, und befanden uns in diesem Machtkampf auf der Verliererseite.
