Die Eigenverantwortung ist in Amerika irgendwann zwischen der Kindheit meines Vaters und meiner Kindheit in Vergessenheit geraten.

Wir lebten jetzt in einem Land, in dem der Preis für den Ersatz eines defekten Geräts durch ein neueres Modell in der Regel niedriger war als die Reparaturkosten bei einem Fachmann, und die waren wiederum in der Regel niedriger als die Kosten, die man hatte, wenn man die Reparatur selbst durchführte.

Allein diese Tatsache führte zu einer technologischen Tyrannei, die nicht nur durch die Technologie selbst aufrechterhalten wurde, sondern durch das Unwissen aller, die sich ihrer täglich bedienten und sie doch nicht verstanden. Wenn man sich nicht über die grundlegende Funktionsweise und Instandhaltung der Geräte informierte, auf die man angewiesen war, nahm man die Tyrannei passiv hin und unterwarf sich ihren Bedingungen:

Was macht ein Leben aus? Es besteht aus mehr als nur unseren Worten und Taten. Ein Leben ist auch das, was wir lieben und woran wir glauben. Für mich persönlich sind das Verbindungen, Verbindungen zwischen Menschen und die Technologien, die sie ermöglichen. Zu diesen Technologien gehören natürlich auch Bücher. Doch für meine Generation ist Verbindung größtenteils gleichbedeutend mit dem Internet.

Wenn Du nun vor meinen Ausführungen zurückschreckst, weil Du die gefährliche Entwicklung, die das Internet in den letzten Jahren genommen hat, nur zu gut kennst, bedenke bitte, dass das World Wide Web, als ich es kennenlernte, völlig anders war. Es war ein Freund, es war Mutter und Vater. Es war eine grenzenlose Gemeinschaft, die mit einer oder mit Millionen Stimmen sprach, Neuland, das allen offenstand, besiedelt, aber nicht ausgebeutet von den unterschiedlichsten Gruppen, die einträchtig miteinander lebten. Es stand jedem Mitglied frei, sich einen Namen, eine Geschichte und Regeln zu geben. Zwar trugen alle eine Maske in Form von Alias-Namen, doch diese Kultur der Anonymität durch Polyonymie brachte mehr Wahrheit als Unwahrheit hervor, denn sie war kreativ und kooperativ statt kommerziell und konkurrenzorientiert. Zweifellos gab es auch Konflikte, aber guter Wille und Freude überwogen – der wahre Pioniergeist.

Eine Studie der Universität von Alaska kommt zu Schluss: Feuer hat nicht zum Zusammenbruch des WTC7 bei 9/11 geführt, im Gegensatz zu den Schlussfolgerungen von NIST und privaten Ingenieurbüros, die den Zusammenbruch untersucht haben.

Basierend auf den offiziellen Gebäudedaten vom NIST haben Forscher das WTC7 in zwei Simulationsprogrammen nachgebaut und simuliert, wie das Gebäude bei Feuer und der offiziellen Erklärung mit „Stützpfeiler verschoben“ zusammengestürzt wäre:
