Eigentlich hat mich das gleiche Kameramodell sechs Jahre lang auf unzähligen Festivals und Ereignissen begleitet. Das Gefühl, dass ich fotografisch mehr machen will, ist immer stärker geworden. Der verträumte Wald bei Nebel am Morgen; Langzeitaufnahmen bei Nacht, der Mond hinter der brennenden Rakete, Feuertänzer – seit dem letzten Feuerfestival hatte ich das Gefühl, dass ich die kleine Sonykamera nun wirklich ausgereizt habe. Ich habe mich sogar angefangen zu trauen, Menschen zu fotografieren, und mit Maximalzoom und dem Helligkeitsregler versucht, den Bildstil zu variieren. Doch der unverkennbare Sony-Look bleibt bestehen. Ich hab’s langsam gesehen, ich möchte Neues ausprobieren, mehr Möglichkeiten haben. Klar ist die klein, überall dabei und schnell Einsatzbereit, und das schätze ich auch sehr. Doch zum Gestalten mit Fotografie stosse ich damit an Grenzen.

Was hatte ich damals geschrieben, aus den Erkenntnissen über die Kameraeinstellungen?

Meine Wunschkamera hätte einen elektronischen Sucher, 5-Achsen Bildstabilisator, Anschlussmöglichkeit für ein externes Mikrofon, optional wechselbare Objektive und wäre so klein wie die RX100.

Ich habe lange gesucht und nächtelang Bilder auf Flickr von diversen Kameramodellen und Objektiven angeschaut. Immer wieder fallen mir die Bilder von Olympus-Kameras auf; die gestochen scharfen Fotos von Motiven, die in malerischer Ölfilterhintergrundunschärfe versinken.

Es stellt sich raus, dass Olympus gerade eine neue Version ihrer Mittelklassekamera herausbringt und woah, das ist die Kamera, die meinen Anforderungen gerecht wird!

Elektronischer Sucher? Check.
5-Achsen Bildstabilisator? Check.
Mikrofonanschluss? Check.
Wechselbare Objektive? Check.

Aber dann geht es noch weiter.

Wetterfestes Gehäuse.
Ich gehe an Festivals und dort kann es auch mal regnen. Kamera steht im Regen? Pfff, ist doch egal. Objektiv wechseln? Der Sensor schüttelt sich jedesmal beim Einschalten 30’000 mal pro Sekunde, um Staubpartikel loszuwerden.

Zoomfaktor.
Das Objektiv hat eine Brennweite von 12-200mm, was 24-400mm im Vollformat entspricht. Es gibt auf der ganzen Welt kein Objektiv mit diesem Brennweitenbereich. Fuck yeah, das deckt den Fastweitwinkel bis Sehrfestganznah ab; ich will schliesslich nicht dauernd Objektive wechseln müssen. Erst mit solchen Linsen kriegt man diese schöne Hintergrundunschärfe hin und, falls da Lichter im Hintergrund sind, werden die in runden Perlen verschwommen dargestellt. Ich kann irgendwo in einem Wald in die Äste zünden, und es entstehen weich melierte, tiefenscharfe Bilder.

Pro Capture.
Ich drücke den Auslöser halb runter, die Kamera fokussiert. Gleichzeitig fängt sie an, 30 Bilder in der Sekunde in ihren Speicher aufzuzeichnen, fortlaufend. Kartenspeicherplatz wird dabei nicht verschwendet. Und jetzt landet der Schwan auf dem Wasser, jetzt fällt der Tropfen vom Eiszapfen, jetzt ist der Moment, den ich verpasst hätte – jetzt drücke ich auf den Auslöser und habe 14 Bilder aus der Vergangenheit und alle nachfolgenden, solange ich den Auslöser gedrückt halte.

Live Bulb.
Dabei zusehen, wie bei einer Langzeitaufnahme das Bild heller wird. Ich fotografiere Feuerwerk und Feuertänzer – jetzt ist genug Feuer auf dem Bild. Das kann ich einfach so entscheiden, während das Bild entsteht.

Live Composite.
Nur die hellen Bereiche werden bei einer Langzeitaufnahme hinzugefügt. Mit Licht malen, ohne dass dabei etwas überbelichtet wird.

High-Res Shot.
Die Kamera nimmt 4 Bilder auf, verschiebt dabei den Sensor leicht und setzt daraus ein hochauflösendes 50 Megapixel-Bild zusammen.

Bildstabilisator.
Olympus-Kameras haben die beste Bildstabilisierung, hat das Internet gesagt. Was nützt ein Bild von einer 50 Megapixel Vollformatkamera, dass dann verwackelt ist? Bildstabilisation wird soo unterschätzt! Jetzt fallen mir so viele Bilder auf, bei denen sich eine leichte Bewegungsunschärfe eingeschlichen hat, obwohl sie eigentlich hätten scharf sein können.

Belichtungszeit.
1/8000 Sekunde mechanisch, 1/32000 elektronisch. Das friert jeden Flügelschlag ein, sofern genügend Licht vorhanden ist.

Autofokus mit Gesichts- und Augenerkennung.
…denn eigentlich will man immer die Augen scharf haben. Hab ich auch erst jetzt realisiert.

Jetzt kann auch ich so schöne Tiefenunschärfe-Bilder machen. Und trotzdem bleibt das Grääsli gestochen scharf. Ja, das ist alles freihändig. Bildstabilisierung ahoi!
