Mein Cache, Waterworks, den ich vergangenen Freitag versteckt habe, wurde heute von „beatle98“ gefunden! Gratulation zum Erstfund!

Yes, unser first ‚First found‘ um 19.05 Uhr!
Die Betondecke des unterirdischen Klusbaches ist jetzt sauber, dank der Putzarbeit mit dem Rücken des älteren ‚beatle98‘. Und die kleineren ‚beatles‘ konnten ihre Spinnenphobie aktiv bekämpfen.

Hat trotzdem Spass gemacht!

Vielleicht merkt man es an den Statistiken: 27 Caches habe ich bereits gefunden! Klar, ich habe Ferien – und Zeit dafür.

Doch jetzt wird es Zeit, dass ich meinen ersten eigenen Cache verstecke. Das wollte ich eigentlich schon seit Tag 1, als ich von Geocaching erfuhr…

Der Cache ist an den Beitrag über die Verschmutzung des Klusbächli angelehnt. Und jawohl, die Cacher werden 200m in die Röhre geschickt. Volle Pulle. Deshalb trägt er auch die Attribute „Dangerous area“ und „May require wading“. Und eine gute Kondition ist ebenfalls erforderlich – das habe ich beim Verstecken selbst bemerkt.

Der Multi-Cache soll auf die vertuschte Gewässerverschmutzung aufmerksam machen. Der Endcache ist – nein, suchen dürft ihr selber! Aber so sieht er aus:

Nach langer, langer Wartezeit ist er nun doch angekommen: Der GPS-Empfänger. Erstaunlich, man sagt doch immer, dass die Kombination „Amerika, eBay & Kreditkarte“ nicht funktioniert. Tut sie doch – es dauert einfach seine Zeit…
Am 8. Mai bestellt & bezahlt, am 10. Mai ging das Paket auf die Reise – und am 25. Mai ist es angekommen.

Und seit Samstag bin ich wie wild am Geocachen – ist ja gleich 10x geiler mit GPS! Besonders die Multicaches, welche in mehrere Stationen aufgeteilt sind, machen einen Heidenspass. So muss man die Koordinaten eingeben und sich zum Wegpunkt begeben. Dort gilt es, z.B die Nummer eines Hydrants zu notieren. Das wäre dann A.
Bei der nächsten Station sind die Schrauben in einem Schild zu zählen; ergibt B. Und mit einer kleinen Rechenaufgabe erhält man schliesslich die Koordinaten zur nächsten Station, z.B. N47° 27.(3*B-A+112) E007° 36.(600-A+B).

Und jedesmal, wenn ich so einen Wegpunkt eingebe und dem GPS sage, es soll mich dorthin führen, ertönt die Stimme im Kopf: „Waypoint – Goto“ – da kommt echt Freelancer-Feeling auf! Die Pfeilanzeige und die verbleibende Reststrecke motivieren auch für lange Strecken. So bin ich am Samstag Abend bis nach Delemont gefahren – von Zwingen aus mit dem Velo!

Sieben Caches und ein Multicache habe ich bis jetzt gefunden – und es gibt noch sooo viele in der Umgebung!

Ich glaub, ich habe bald ein neues Hobby! Vor kurzem bin ich zufällig darauf gestossen: Geocaching.

„Sucht nach einer schwarzen Plastikbox, die vergraben ist“, stand am 3. Mai 2000 im Internet zu lesen. „Nehmt euch etwas, lasst dafür etwas da! Tragt alles ins Log-Buch ein! Viel Spass!“

Dave Ulmer aus dem US-Bundesstaat Oregon hatte das geschrieben. Er vergrub einen wasserdichten Plastikeimer mit Videos, Büchern und Kleinigkeiten in einem Wald bei Portland und veröffentlichte die Koordinaten in einer Newsgroup.

Und das war der Beginn von Geocaching. Und so verstecken weltweit 40’000 Benutzer ihre Caches, bestehend aus Tupperwareboxen, Filmdosen oder Munitionskisten. Weltweit sind fast 400’000 Caches versteckt, 4’000 davon in der Schweiz.
