„Oder die Leute, die Ketchup auf alles drauftun.“ echauffiert sich mein Gegenüber, als wir alle am Mittagstisch sitzen. Ich mag Ketchup auch nicht, aber frage mich, warum ihn das so stört, wenn andere ihr Essen damit bereichern. „Das Schlimmste, was du machen kannst, ist: Aromat und Ketchup auf die Spaghetti. Dann gehe ich vom Tisch“ fetzt er los und ich freue mich schon: Challenge accepted.

„Wääh nei, jetzt schmiert er Mayonnaise aufs Brot!“ Höh, was? Aber klar doch! Mache ich zuhause schliesslich auch und ich kenne viele, die diese Kombination mögen. „Mayonnaise aufs Brot schmieren ist genau so schlimm wie schmatzen am Tisch.“

„Das macht me nid.“ sagt er und löst so bei mir den „Figg di, jetzt erst recht!“ Nervenimpuls aus.

Einen Tag später. „Wie hätten Sie ihr Rindssteak gerne – mager blutig, oder mittel?“ fragt uns der Koch. „Natürlich ganz durch und knusprig, am liebsten schwarz verbrannt an den Oberflächen, so dass es richtig saftet und fätzt, mit Teerstrassenaroma!“ antworte ich und dem Kumpel neben mir explodiert der Kopf. „Das kannst du doch nicht machen!! Isch schad ums Fleisch!“

Wiewas, ich kann doch mein Fleisch essen, wie ich will? Und wie „schad ums Fleisch“, es ist eh schon tot. Und wääh, blutiges Fleisch, bist du wahnsinnig? Ich will doch keine Leichenteile essen! Ich meine das arme Tier. Bei mir muss Fleisch so aussehen, dass es aus der Steckdose kommt. Ausserdem: All die Hormone – das muss gründlich desinfiziert werden.

„Nein, nein, nein, das kannst du doch nicht machen.“ erwiedert mein Gegenüber und der Koch sieht uns abwechslungsweise belustigt und entgeistert an. Natürlich kann ich, weil ich es kann. Was geht dich das überhaupt an, ich esse es schliesslich, nicht du.

„Was ist denn der einzige und alleinige Zweck vom Fleisch? Es ist ein Genussmittel. Genüsse sind subjektiv und da jeder Mensch verschieden wahrnimmt, braucht es auch individuelle Zubereitung.“ kläre ich ihn auf.

Es ist nicht das erste mal, dass mich Leute wegen Essgewohnheiten zurechtweisen. „Nai, sicher nid, das isch gruusig.“ als ich als Kind vor versammelter Familienbesuchsrunde Mayonnaise auf das Steak streichen wollte. Höh wieso? Aber auf dem Cervelat ist es ok?! Ihr habt ja nicht alle Tassen im Schrank! In Indien essen sie mit den Händen, das ist wiederum in Ordnung?

„Du musst dein Fleisch so essen, wie wir dir vorschreiben, dass es für uns gut schmeckt“ schwingt immer mit, denn „es war sehr teuer.“ JA GERADE DESWEGEN will ich es doch maximal geniessen und mit Mayonnaise noch besser machen.

Unverständnis und Kopfschütteln.

Beim Gemüse explodieren die Menschen nicht so wie beim Fleisch, wenn man Aromat darüber streut. Warum eigentlich? Essen die Leute Fleisch, weil sie es mögen und des Genusses wegen, oder weil sie einem kulturellen Ideal entsprechen wollen, wie man Fleisch isst? Warum finden sie Fleisch so wertvoll, werfen aber andere Nahrungsmittel achtlos weg? Ist ein fein zubereiteter Gemüseteller nicht genau so wertvoll wie eine Scheibe Tierkadaver?

Ein Gastgeber war mal ziemlich beleidigt, als ich mich voller Freude auf die feinen Nudeln, das zarte Gemüse und die herzhaften Beilagen stürzte und das Rindszartsteak, naja, ich bin satt und mag nimmer. Das waren sehr leckere Beilagen! Das Fleisch hätts gar nicht gebraucht. „Aber mimimi“ und so weiter…

Nahrung muss zuallererst mal gesund sein und schmecken. Möglichkeiten gibt’s genug. Grüne Smoothies und Mana. Der einzige und alleinige Zweck vom Fleisch ist Genuss; und wenn ich Genuss-esse, dann schmiere ich Mayonnaise auf mein schwarz verkrustetes Rinds-Entrecote, so wie ich will und würze einzelne Ecken intensiv mit Salz- und Pfefferschichten, nur um zu schauen, wie es schmeckt; tunke mein Brot in Maggi und haue Aromat auf die Teigwaren. Nur um danach auch wieder einen Teil einfach so und ohne Gwürz zu essen, um zu schauen, wie es roh und natürlich schmeckt.

Nebenbei: Bei der Mayonnaise mit Kräuter ist ein N umgefallen; es müsste heissen: Mayonnaise mit Kräutern!
Das stört mich. Nicht, weil ich es nicht essen muss, sondern weil ich es lesen muss.

Schade um die Kräuter.
