Nach dieser legendären Nacht wusste ich: Das machen wir nochmal. Mehr Licht, mehr selber steuern. Und ich will Räffu mehr unterstützen. Mehr als nur mit Leitern halten während des Aufbaus.

Schon lange schwirrt mir ein Video durch den Kopf:

Zwei kompakte Moving Heads. Es lässt mir keine Ruhe. Ein Bitcoin reicht für diese Beiden inklusive Steuersoftware; das ganze passt in eine Reisetasche. Es kann losgehen!

Wir kommen im Gaskessel in Bern an. Soll ich sie auf den Balken über den Publikum stellen, damit sie die Diskokugel von unten anstrahlen können? Oder doch lieber aufs DJ-Pult? „Bist du wahnsinnig“, denkt die Stimme in meinem Kopf. „Auf einer Party mit tausenden von Besuchern. Dann kann ja jeder deine Movingheads sehen, und alle Fehler, die du machst, und wenn die Software abstürzt, lachen dich alle aus.“

Aber nein, auf dem Balken gerade mal knapp die Decke anstrahlen? Das ist mir dann doch zu wenig. Links und Rechts vom DJ-Pult hats Platz. Wir sitzen gleich neben der Bühne. Das reicht also auch von der Länge meines DMX-Kabels. Etwas mulmig ist mir schon. Das ist die Prime-Time Pole Position. Das sehen alle, ständig. Ja gut, jetzt oder nie. Ich habe es so gewollt.

Stimmt die Höhe? Blendet es den DJ nicht? Was kann ich im Saal alles anstrahlen? Ich kalibriere die Positionen und spiele eifrig mit den Lichtstrahlen. Soll ich sie wie ein grosses, weisses X positionieren? Wippen? Oder kreisen lassen? Besonders schön: Wenn die Strahlen auf die Diskokugel treffen, tauchen sie den Kuppeldom in ein rotierendes Sternenmeer. Ich programmiere gleich ein Bewegungsmuster dazu. Oder mein Lieblingsmanöver: Der Leuchtturm. Beide Strahler rotieren abwechselnd über die Köpfe hinweg. Ich habe eine Menge Spass!

Daslight ist die einzige erschwingliche Software mit einer brauchbaren Bedienoberfläche. Ich definiere Gruppen und darin einzelne Szenen. Pro Gruppe kann eine Szene aktiv sein. Ich habe Gruppen für die Bewegung, Farben, Goboräder und für die Helligkeit. Dann eine Gruppe für Szenen, die andere Szenen in diesen Gruppen aktivieren. Bewegung Balkenwippe, Farbe Gelb, Gobo normal und Verschluss offen. Die Geschwindigkeit kann ich mit einem Regler steuern, der via USB am Laptop angeschlossen ist und seine Befehle via MIDI-Protokoll an die Steuersoftware schickt.

Es beginnt. Hier ist unser Platz. Ich fange ganz dezent an, lasse sie nur mal in Blau an die Decke strahlen. Szene „Saal willkommen“. Zwei drei Knopfdrücke auf dem MIDI-Pult, und schon wischen meine beiden Scheinwerfer im Takt zur Musik! Räffu hat diesmal zusätzlich zum Videomapping Dreiecke mit starken LEDs mitgebracht; und jedes Lämpchen lässt sich einzeln ansteuern. Wir haben ein ziemlich imposantes Lichtsetup am Start.

Die Nacht wird später. Ich lasse die beiden Lichtpinsel ganz langsam in Gelb über das Publikum kreisen und unterstreiche so den ruhigen Teil. Nur um im nächsten Abschnitt giftig grün zu funkeln und zusammen mit den grünen Lasern die Metallfasern einzeln aus dem Kupfer schmelzen. Oder sie ein bewegungsloses grünes X formen lassen, um die Laser zu unterstreichen. Ich zeichne und male Farben und Muster in die Atmosphäre, mal wild, mal bedacht, mal mystisch.

Wie immer kam ich fast nicht dazu, Videos zu machen, so beschäftigt war ich mit dem Licht. Ich will die Musik perfekt unterstreichen und die passende Stimmung erzeugen. Das Schlimmste, was ein Lichtmensch machen kann, ist, seine Scheinwerfer auf die automatische Soundsteuerung zu stellen. Wir haben das kurz ausprobiert. Die Strahler wackeln dabei wild umher, immer gleich, ständig die Farben wechselnd. Total eintönig.

Gegen fünf Uhr morgens ist meine Konzentration so dermassen abgesunken, dass ich kaum noch entziffern kann, was auf meinen Knöpfen steht. Deckensdflkjsdf, Publiwischkjokf. „Ah, Deckenscan. Aber was macht der schon wieder genau?“ Ich muss mich richtig anstrengen und nachdenken. So lange wach und dabei konzentriert bleiben ist fast nicht möglich. Zum Glück macht Räffu das Videomapping und LED-Strahler. Das gibt ebenfalls eine eigene Stimmung, und die Movingheads müssen ja nicht immer laufen.

Um Acht Uhr morgens heizt ein DJ nochmal richtig ein und ich werde wacher. Die Menge tobt mit. Ein Besucher, der von Anfang an dabei war kommt zu mir, lehnt sich übers Absperrgitter und umarmt mich spontan, hellicht begeistert. „Cet massive!“. Ich spreche kein Französisch, aber freue mich mit ihm und drücke nochmals demonstrativ auf den Nebelfeuerknopf. Die Nebelmaschine stösst zischend eine Rauchfontäne aus. Sein Blick auf mich gerichtet versinkt sein breites Grinsen zujubelnd in Ekstase in der tanzenden Menge.

„Super Arbeit habt ihr gemacht. Vielen Dank für diesen Einsatz! Über 100%“, verabschieden sich die Veranstalter von uns.

„Andere Leute haben Ideen und wissen ständig alles besser, machen dann aber doch nichts“, erzählt mir Räffu. Wow. Das ist jetzt Zuckerguss für mein Gehirn. Das heisst im Umkehrschluss für mich: Ich habe eine Idee gehabt, und sie umgesetzt. Vor einem grossen Publikum, sehr exponiert. Und es kam tatsächlich gut! Die Leute haben Freude. Das hebt mein Selbstvertrauen. Es muss nicht immer alles scheitern, und es ist auch nicht komplett alles falsch und hoffnungslos mit mir. Für diese Heilwirkung hat sich die Mühe und das Durchhalten durch diese 34 Stunden Wachsein am Stück gelohnt.

Licht geben, Licht empfangen.
