Das 250 Franken (etwa 160 Euro) teure Dokument gilt zunächst nur für fünf Jahre, weil nicht klar ist, wie lange der eingebaute Chip hält. Er enthält ein digitales Passbild als biometrisches Merkmal sowie alle Informationen seines bereits maschinenlesbaren Vorläufers „Pass 03“. Fingerabdrücke sollen erst später erfasst werden.
