Hi and merry christmas. I am honored to have a chance to speak with you and your family this year. Recently we learned that our governments, working in concert, have created system of worldwide mass surveillance watching everything we do.

Great Britain’s George Orwell warned us of the danger of this kind of information. The types of collection in the book, microphones, video cameras, TVs that watch us, are nothing compared to what we have available today. We have sensors in our pockets that track us everywhere we go. Think about what this means for the privacy of the average person. A child born today will grow up with no conception of privacy at all. They’ll never know what it means to have a private moment to themselves, an unrecorded, unanalyzed thought. And that is a problem. Because privacy matters. Privacy is what allows us to determine who we are and who we want to be.

The conversation occurring today will determine the amount of trust we can place both in the technology that surrounds us and the government that regulates it. Together we can find a better balance, end mass surveillance and remind the government that if it really wants to know how we feel, asking is always cheaper than spying. Wir tragen Sensoren in unseren Taschen, die aufzeichnen, wohin wir auch gehen.

Bedenken Sie, was das für die Privatsphäre eines durchschnittlichen Menschen bedeutet. Ein Kind, das heute geboren wird, wird ohne jegliche Vorstellung von Privatsphäre aufwachsen. Es wird niemals wissen, was es bedeutet, einen privaten Moment nur für sich zu haben; einen Gedanken, der nicht aufgezeichnet und analysiert wird. Das ist ein Problem, denn die Privatsphäre ist wichtig. Die Privatsphäre ist es, die uns ermöglicht herauszufinden, wer wir sind und wer wir sein wollen.

Die Debatte, die heute stattfindet, wird bestimmen, wie sehr wir sowohl der Technologie, die uns umgibt, als auch dem Staat, der sie reglementiert, vertrauen können. Gemeinsam können wir eine bessere Ausgewogenheit finden, die Massenüberwachung beenden und die Regierung daran erinnern: Wenn sie wirklich wissen will, was wir denken, ist Nachfragen immer günstiger als Spionieren. Ich weiss nicht so recht, was ich davon halten soll. Das Thema macht mich unsicher. Und ich hoffe doch wirklich, dass der G-Man weiterhin einen Plan hat, was er da mit mir anstellen will. Ob er mich an den Felsen der Hungersnot und Armut zerschellen lässt, auf die ich immer schneller zurase? Eigentlich sollte ich es ja wissen. Aber trotzdem. Vor mir liegt wieder so eine schwarze Klippe, und ich habe keine Ahnung, was da kommen mag. Aaargh.

Im kommenden Jahr findet wieder das Boom Festival statt. Dieses mal habe ich mich als Engel im Kosmicare beworben. Mal schauen, was daraus wird.

Vor einem Jahr stand ich vor diesem Portal. Nervös, was denn jetzt kommen möge. Ich hatte bereits Jahre zuvor im Detail über das bevorstehende Ereignis recherchiert. Eigentlich wusste ich genau, was kommen wird. Saturns Return.

Und verdammt Leute, ich bin nervös. Was kommt da auf mich zu? Mein Leben wird auf einen Prüfstein gelegt. Ob ich das bestehe? Es ist wie eine Achterbahnschiene. Irgendwann geht’s runter. Wird’s schlimm? Ich will noch gar nicht viel dazu sagen. Wir werden sehen.

Und wir sahen.
Ich bin froh, dass es diese astrologischen Ereignisse gibt. Besonders über Saturns Return bin ich sehr froh. Er gleist dich auf die richtige Spur ein, damit dein Leben auf den Schienen verläuft, auf denen es gedacht war zu verlaufen. Es ist sinnlos, ein anderes Leben zu leben.

Guten Abend London.

Erlauben Sie mir zunächst, mich für die Unterbrechung zu entschuldigen. Wie viele von Ihnen, schätze auch ich die Annehmlichkeiten des geregelten Alltags, die Sicherheit des lieb gewordenen, täglich wiederkehrenden Einerleis.

Ich genieße das Leben so sehr, wie jeder andere Mensch, aber anlässlich eines Gedenktages und dem Bedeuten der Ereignisse aus der Vergangenheit, für gewöhnlich der Tod einer Berühmtheit oder das Ende eines grässlich blutigen Krieges mit einem hübschen Feiertag begangen werden, dachte ich mir, dass wir wir diesen fünften November, ein Tag dessen heute leider nicht mehr gedacht wird, erinnerungswürdig machen, indem wir den Alltag vergessen und ein wenig plaudern.

Natürlich gibt es jene, die nicht wollen, dass wir reden, ich vermute, dass bereits jetzt Befehle in Telefone gebrüllt werden und schon bald Männer mit Waffen unterwegs sind.

Warum?

Auch wenn man den Schlagstock anstelle eines Gesprächs einsetzen kann, werden Worte immer ihre Macht behalten. Worte lassen einen Sinn erschließen und für die, die bereit sind zuzuhören, formulieren sie die Wahrheit und die Wahrheit ist, dass etwas in diesem Land ganz fürchterlich im Argen liegt, nicht wahr?

Grausamkeit und Ungerechtigkeit, Intoleranz und Unterdrückung. Wo man einst die Freiheit zu widersprechen besaß, zu denken und zu reden, wie man es für richtig hält, hat man nun die Zensoren und Überwachungssysteme, die einen zur Konformität zwingen zur Unterwerfung führen.

Wie konnte es dazu kommen? Wer hat Schuld?

Nun… Sicherlich hat manch einer mehr zu verantworten als andere und der wird auch zur Rechenschaft gezogen, doch um ehrlich zu sein:

Wer eine Schuldigen sucht, der muss nur in den Spiegel sehen.

Ich weiß, warum ihr es getan habt, ich weiß, dass ihr Angst hattet. Wer hätte das nicht? Krieg, Terror, Krankheit. Milliarden von Problemen haben sich dazu verschworen, eure Vernunft zu manipulieren und euch eures Verstandes zu berauben. Angst gewann die Oberhand und in eurer Panik habt ihr euch an den heutigen Großkanzler gewendet: Adam Sutler. Er versprach euch Ordnung, er versprach euch Frieden, als Gegenleistung verlangte er nur euer gehorsames Einverständnis.

Gestern Nacht wollte ich dem Schweigen ein Ende bereiten, gestern Nacht habe ich das Old Bailey zerstört, um dieses Land an das zu erinnern, was es vergessen hat:

Vor über 400 Jahren wollte ein großer Bürger den fünften November für immer in unser Gedächtnis brennen, in der Hoffnung, die Welt daran zu erinnern, dass Anstand, Gerechtigkeit und Freiheit mehr als Worte sind.

Es sind Perspektiven.

Wenn ihr also nichts gesehen habt, wenn euch die Verbrechen dieser Regierung auch weiterhin unbekannt sind, dann schlage ich vor, dass ihr den fünften Novemeber unbemerkt vergehen lasst.

Aber wenn ihr seht, was ich sehe,
Wenn ihr spürt, was ich spüre,
Und wenn ihr strebt, wonach ich strebe,
dann fordere ich euch auf, an meiner Seite zu stehen.

Heute in einem Jahr vor dem Eingang des Parlaments und dann bescheren wir ihnen einen fünften November, der nie – und nimmer – vergessen wird!
