Ziel des INDECT-Projekts ist die Bündelung von Hard- und Software verschiedener Überwachungstechnologien. Mittels „Predictive Analytics“ und „Relationship mining“ sollen Risiken analysiert und Straftaten vorhergesehen werden. Dazu setzt man einerseits auf die Überwachung des Internets mit Hilfe von Suchmaschinen zum schnellen Auffinden von Bildern und Videos mithilfe von Wasserzeichen sowie automatisierte Suchroutinen zur Aufspürung von beispielsweise Gewalt oder „abnormalem Verhalten“ sowohl im World Wide Web als auch im Usenet und in P2P-Netzwerken.[2][3] Dabei wird auch versucht, die Computerlinguistik dahingehend weiterzuentwickeln, dass die Suchroutinen in der Lage sind, Beziehungen zwischen Personen sowie den Kontext einer Unterhaltung, z.B. in Chats, bei der Interpretation der Sprache mit einzubeziehen.[4]
Darüber hinaus soll die Polizei mit Hilfe von INDECT bewegliche Objekte und Subjekte (Personen) beobachten können. Dazu sollen auch Prototypen mobiler Geräte entwickelt werden. Für dieses mobile städtische Überwachungssystem (Mobile Urban Observation System) sollen fliegende Kameras – so genannte Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV, unbemannte fliegende Fahrzeuge) wie etwa Quadrocopter (Helicopter mit vier Propellern für den Auftrieb)– zum Einsatz kommen. Diese UAV sollen intelligent und autonom vernetzt werden und miteinander kooperieren, um verdächtige bewegliche Objekte sowohl zu identifizieren als auch im städtischen Raum verfolgen zu können.[5] Als verdächtig könnte damit bereits ein Rennen oder Fluchen auf öffentlichen Straßen bewertet werden.[6]

Als ich Lokaljournalist war, bekam ich aus allen Parteien Informationen und veröffentlichte sie. Ich wusste noch vor den meisten Parteimitgliedern, wer der nächste Bürgermeister ist. Diese erfuhren das aus der Zeitung. Das richtete natürlich einen gewissen politischen Schaden an. So what? Das war mein Job, meinen Lesern zu sagen, was vor sich geht. Ich habe versucht meinem Verlag zu erklären, dass wir mehr Informationen verbreiten können wenn wir das Internet nutzen. Man hat das bis heute nicht verstanden.
Was Wikileaks macht, ist nichts anderes als Journalisten bisher gemacht haben. Die haben nur deshalb nicht alles veröffentlicht, weil sie schlicht nicht den Platz oder die Sendezeit haben. Noch heute gilt auch im Internet eine Art Selbstzensur, was die Länge angeht. Wikileaks sieht sich aber nicht als Gatekeeper, der dem dummen Bürger die Welt erklärt, sondern sieht den Bürger als mündig an und gibt ihm die Informationen direkt in die Hand. Wohlgemerkt, das ist nichts Neues.
Warum nun diese Hetze gegen Wikileaks? Weil zum einen die USA angegriffen werden, und diese nicht anders können als reflexartig nach Zucht und Ordnung zu rufen, statt einmal zu überlegen, warum aus ihrem Hochsicherheitsbetrieb diese Daten überhaupt rauskommen können. Oder mal darüber nachzudenken, wie diplomatische Kabel verschickt werden. Zum anderen wiel auch die klassischen Medien ein Interesse an der Jagd auf Assange haben.
Die Presse galt gemeinhin als vierte Gewalt im Staat. Der Satz impliziert aber damit eine Rolle im Staat, eine Funktion. diese Funktion ist die des Überwachers. Schauen wir die Praxis an, hat die Presse diese Funktion aufgegeben. Man sitzt in der Bundespressekonferenz und schreibt brav auf was Minister sagen. Wenn es um investigativen Journalismus geht, müssen immer Leyendecker oder Wallraff ran, andere gibt es nicht. Ich habe selbst für meine Zeitung einst ein Stück über Scientology geschrieben, das hat mich ein halbes Jahr Recherche gekostet – ich musste das in meiner Freizeit machen. Die meisten Journalisten und Verleger haben noch immer nicht verstanden, dass sich ihre Rolle ändern muss. Dass sie keine Gatekeeper mehr sind, sondern Erklärbären werden müssen.
Weil das aber nicht so leicht ist, sehen sie sich von Wikileaks angegriffen wie zuvor von Bloggern. Der meist verächtliche Ton wenn es um Blogs geht ist nicht anderes als Ausdruck puren Neides. Die dürfen und machen was man selbst sich nicht traut. Warum braucht es Wikileaks um einen Maulwurf in der FDP zu enttarnen? Und warum, das am Rande, wird darüber berichtet, wenn es doch Informationen sind, die diese schlimmen Cyberterroristen verbreiten?
Es geht um die Informationshoheit. Weder Staat noch Presse wollen diese abgeben. Sie wollen kontrollieren. Die einen um an der Macht zu bleiben, die anderen um Auflage zu machen mit vermeintlicher Exklusivität. Dem Bürger wird nicht zugetraut, mündig zu sein und Quellen im Original zu verstehen. (Das hängt übrigens mit dem akademischen Hintergrund zusammen. Journalisten werden quasi von kleinauf auf Elfenbeinturm getrimmt. Das war bei mir selbst so).
Und deshalb werden journalistische und juristische Standards einfach mal über den Haufen geworfen. Zum Beispiel:
Interpol sucht jemanden international weil er wegen Sex ohne Kondon befragt werden soll?
Die USA reden von Auslieferung, ohne dass es formal einen Haftbefehl gibt
In den USA fordern Politiker Attentate auf Assange
Bei Assange wird von Vergewaltigungsvorwürfen gesprochen, obwohl es sich nach deutschen Sprachgebrauch höchstens um sexuelle Nötigung handeln dürfte (wenn überhaupt)
Wir, die Bürger, sind aufgerufen, zu entscheiden, ob wir ein freies Internet wollen, in dem es bisweilen auch mal unbequem wird, oder ob der Staat auch diesen Bereich kontrollieren soll (mit allen Konsequenzen). Ich hatte heute eine kurze Twitterdiskussion ob Hacker-Attacken gegen Visa und Co. sinnvoll sind. Ich glaube ja. Ich sehe das als eine Art Online-Demonstration. Das staatliche System gibt uns keine Möglichkeit, schnell auf aktuelle Geschehnisse zu reagieren. Selbst physische Demonstrationen müssen vorher angemeldet werden. Wir gehen aber heute nicht mehr auf die Straße sondern ins Internet.
Die Payback-Initiative mag zwar sowas wie der Autonome Block sei, aber ich denke sie zeigen auf, was die RAF einst schon tat: Wenn der Staat gepiesackt wird, zeigt er sein faschistisches Gesicht. Nun mag faschistisch heute nicht mehr richtig sein, tatsächlich aber werden staatlicherseits nicht Diskussionen geführt, sondern repressiv gehandelt. Die Hacker haben deshalb zurzeit meine uneingeschränkte Solidarität (und ja, ich weiß um den Widerspruch in diesem Satz, man möge ihn bitte in Kontext stellen zum Urheber des Originals).

Laut Europäischer Richtlinie zur Verwendung traditioneller und pflanzlicher medizinischer Produkte (THMPD) wird der Verkauf und die Anwendung von Naturprodukten stark eingeschränkt.
Begründung:
Es handelt sich um eine Richtlinie der EU zur Vereinheitlichung des Zulassungsverfahrens für traditionelle Kräuterzubereitungen, die medizinisch eingesetzt werden. Damit werden Naturprodukte zu medizinischen Produkten umdeklariert, die zugelassen werden müssen. In allen EU Länder wird es dann verboten sein Heilkräuter oder Pflanzen zu verkaufen, die keine Lizenz haben. Naturstoffe , denen man eine Heilwirkung zuschreibt werden nicht mehr als Lebensmittel eingestuft, sondern als Arznei. Nur was man patentieren und mit einer Schutzmarke im Handel monopolisieren kann ist erwünscht. Was einfach in der Natur wächst ist illegal. Unsere Gesundheit wird dadurch nicht geschützt, sondern es werden die Umsätze und Profite der Grosskonzerne gesichert. Wir sollten selber entscheiden was gut für uns ist und welche Mittel wir nehmen, ob chemische Bomben oder sanfte Naturheilmittel. Dadurch erfahren auch Krankenkassen eine Erleichterung weil immer mehr Leute dazu übergehen, Naturprodukte ohne Rezeptschein zu kaufen.

Liebes Tagebuch
Ich war gerade an einer Hochzeitsparty. War toll. Aber die Menschen sind komisch. Die stellen alle immer wieder die gleichen Fragen: „Wie geht es dir?“. Und Leute, die mich zum ersten mal sehen, fragen dann meistens zusätzlich: „Was machst du?“
„Gut“, antworte ich. Ich weiss gar nicht was die Frage überhaupt soll. Klar geht’s mir gut, ich habe gerade massig das Dessertbuffet degustiert. Aber ich würde auch „gut“ antworten, wenn’s mir schlecht geht. Weil nach einem „gut“ ist meistens Ruhe – ein „schlecht“ müsste ich garantiert noch begründen, dann wird sicher nachgefragt. Das ist mühsam und unnötig.
Ganz anders Kinder. Da hatte es ein Kind an dieser Hochzeitsparty, das kam einfach so auf mich zu und hat mich angesprungen. Ich hab‘ dann zurückgepufft und wir haben uns kurz durch die Küche gejagt =) Das war sehr erfrischend. Kinder wollen spielen und scheren sich nicht drum, wie’s mir grad geht und was ich so mache. Ich kann einfach so sein wie ich bin und wie ich mich gerade fühle, ohne zuerst die dämlichen Kontrollfragen beantworten zu müssen.
Ich steh‘ am Aperotisch. Hoffentlich kennt mich niemand. Nein, du kennst mich nicht – wegschauen. Es kommt auf mich zu, oh nein… „Hoi Claude, wie geht’s dir?“ Zu spät. Ich spiele mein Tonband ab. Was mach ich? Mal überlegen… Ach ja, ich wohne in St. Gallen. Allein. Und ich bin Informatiker. Webentwickler. Bei Namics. So. *zurückspul* – der nächste bitte. Ihr seid echt öde!
Ich weiss jetzt, warum ich mit Maschinen besser klarkomm als mit Menschen. Die Maschine kümmert sich genau so einen Dreck darum, wie es mir geht und was ich so mache. Ich kann die einfach so einschalten und benutzen. Damit spielen, was kreatives damit anstellen, Hackedihack – und sie dann wieder ausschalten. Das kann ich einfach so tun, ohne befürchten zu müssen, ob sie ächt schlecht über mich denkt, wenn ich mal was verbock.
Aber ich hab‘ glaubi eine neue Leidenschaft entdeckt: Ich durfte die Lichtsteuerung für die Bühne übernehmen. Ziemlich cool, ein Setup für Sketches und Rede, und ein episches für Musikbeiträge – und dann mit dem Lichtcrossfader hin- und herswitchen. Gefällt! So konnte ich doch noch was nützlich nerdiges tun an diesem Abend, die Leute ins rechte Licht rücken und für die optische Stimmung sorgen. Ja, Lichttechnik macht wirklich Spass!

Ein Verrückter würde jedoch sagen, dass ich ein buntes, lächerliches, nutzloses, auf komplizierte Weise geschlungenes Stück Stoff um den Hals trage, das die Beweglichkeit des Kopfes einschränkt und uns zwingt, tiefer zu atmen, damit Luft in die Lungen gelangt. Wenn ich in der Nähe eines Ventilators bin und nicht aufpasse, kann dieses Stück Stoff mich erwürgen.
Wenn ein Verrückter mich fragt, wozu eine Krawatte gut ist, muss ich ihm antworten: zu überhaupt nichts. Nicht einmal zum Verschönern, weil sie heute zum Symbol der Versklavung, der Macht, der Distanz geworden ist. Die Nützlichkeit der Krawatte besteht darin, nach Hause zu kommen und das Gefühl zu genießen, dass wir uns von etwas befreit haben, von dem wir nicht einmal wissen, was es ist.
Doch rechtfertigt dieses Gefühl der Erleichterung die Krawatte?
Nein. Dennoch wird, wenn ich einen Verrückten und einen normalen Menschen frage, was das ist, derjenige als gesund erachtet, der mir antwortet: eine Krawatte. Gleichgültig, wer es richtig sieht oder wer recht hat.“
