Verliebtsein – dieses Thema wird als „gegeben“ hingenommen, darüber geredet wird bestenfalls hinter vorgehaltener Hand, am Familientisch wird es nur einseitig besprochen. Und wer „es nicht geschafft hat“; wer sich als Mann keine Fotze angeln konnte oder wer als Frau von keinem Typen angesprochen wurde, der wird als störrisch, seltsam, sozial abweichend und als Versager abgestempelt. Mit diesem Denkmodell habe ich bisher gelebt. Ja, ich bin so ein traumatisiertes Kind. Bei dem Thema hängen bei mir schwarze Regenbögen über dem Kopf, gespickt mit ewig rotierenden Fragezeichen. Ich bin anders. Warum? Was ist los? Wie funktioniert was? Eine Erklärung blieb bislang aus. Über die Funktionsweise des Verliebens und was wirklich dahinter steht, darüber weiss niemand so richtig Bescheid. In der Schule gibt es zwar sowas wie Aufklärung, doch eine wissenschaftliche, tiefgreifende Analyse über die Dynamiken des Verliebtseins fehlt gänzlich.

Wir müssen Wege finden, über unsere Erfahrungen zu reden. Selbst am Boom – es ist schwierig, ausserhalb seines Freundeskreises zu sagen: „Ja, ich werde heute Abend 2-CB nehmen!“. Es ist ein sicherer Ort hier, um sowas zu sagen. Aber wenn du nach Hause zurückkehrst, in dein Land, und zu jemandem sprichst, der nicht in dieser Festivalkultur ist, da ist es schwierig, darüber zu reden, ohne verurteilt zu werden, das Stigma zu spüren, das die Leute dir geben, für jemand, der Drogen konsumiert, weil sie es nicht verstehen.

Storytelling, was diese Kultur für dich bedeutet, was Drogenkonsum für dich bedeutet und die positiven Aspekte, die damit verbunden sind, sind ein wirklich wichtiger Teil, um den Grundstein für Gesetzesänderungen zu legen.

Fang an, über deine Erfahrungen zu berichten. Ausserhalb von Menschen, denen wir vertrauen – tragen wir diese Botschaft? Wird es wirklich geteilt? Es ist wichtig. Medienberichte, Blogposts, Gespräche mit Freunden – all das verändert die Herzen und das Denken.

I’m not telling you what to do. I’m not telling you what to believe in. It’s okay if you hate me. It’s okay if you disagree with me. It’s okay for everybody to look at this, because we have to decide how we feel.

We have to stop thinking that what’s on the news is the gospel truth, or what an official says behind the podium is exactly the right answer, or what I say is something that you can rely on. I could be totally full of shit.

You’ve got to figure out what you believe in, and stand for it. You have to stand for it.

Whether I’m a good guy or whether I’m a bad guy, whether I’m a hero or whether I’m a traitor — none of that matters.

Criticize me. Hate me. But think about what matters in the issues.

Think about the world you want to live in — and then be a part of building that.

Kritisiert mich. Hasst mich. Aber denkt darüber nach, was zählt in diesen Angelegenheiten.

Denk darüber nach, in welcher Welt du leben möchtest -- und dann sei Teil davon, sie zu errichten.“

Und mit dieser Ansage schafft es Edward Snowden in meine Heldengalerie. Damit möchte ich nicht mit der Masse mitschwimmen und ihn als „Held“ bezeichnen; vielmehr ist es -- wie bei allen anderen Vorbildern auch -- seine Art zu sein und zu handeln, die mich inspiriert. Er hat Moral und Werte, und er steht dafür ein -- wider der Risiken.

In diesem Licht sehen die Ereignisse von damals anders aus. Es ist tröstlich zu sehen, dass ich aus demselben Holz geschnitzt bin wie Edward Snowden. Auch ich ging Risiken ein, habe die Grenze übertreten, mich gegen Autoritäten aufgelehnt, als meine Meinungsfreiheit bedroht wurde -- und dann meinen Job verloren. Ich stehe für meine Werte und für das, woran ich glaube, ein.

Snowdens Rede inspiriert mich, meinen Weg weiterzugehen. Meinen eigenen Weg. Und euch damit mächtig auf den Sack zu gehen, oder vielleicht sogar ins Gefängnis. Aber es spielt keine Rolle wie ihr darüber denkt. Kritisiert mich. Hasst mich. Ich denke darüber nach, in welcher Welt ich leben will -- und helfe mit, sie zu bauen.
