Gedanken in einer Nacht während des Seminars für Bewusstseinsreisen. Die Bettdecke ist kuschelig warm. Ob das die letzte Nacht in meinem vertrauten Bett sein wird? Existiert das Konzept „Bett“ und „Kissen“ in einer anderen Galaxie? Es kann nämlich gut sein, dass man auf einer Bewusstseinsreise das Leben einer anderen Person durchlebt. In Echtzeit. Oder ein vergangenes Leben. Oder vielleicht sogar ein zukünftiges? Oder man reist zu fremden Sternsystemen und trifft auf andere intergalaktische Kulturen. Dabei wird das Leben hier „pausiert“, und man nimmt alles mit; die Emotionen, hören, sehen, Zeitempfinden. Man lässt alles hinter sich und wird $dort geboren. Nach dem Tod wacht man wieder hier auf.

Wenn dem so ist – dann ist all das, was man hier auf der Erde in dieser Zeit so tun kann von grossem Wert. Denn – es könnte bereits morgen nicht mehr möglich sein. Zum Beispiel? Grosse Boxen aufstellen, dem satten Klang der Musik lauschen und sich vom Bass massieren lassen. Grosse Boxen und elektronische Musik gibt es im Mittelalter nämlich nicht. Und LSD ist erst zur Zeit der Atombombe entdeckt worden. Mit Freunden um ein Lagerfeuer sitzen. Im Zelt liegen und Nachts dem Grillenzirpen lauschen, oder den Regentropfen, die auf die Zeltwand tröpfeln. Gibt es Zelte auf anderen Sternensystemen? Oder in der Zukunft? Vielleicht werden Lagerfeuer in tausend Jahren verboten sein, oder es gibt kein Holz mehr? Allgemein Freunde. Sie verändern sich. Interessen wandeln sich. Oder es geschehen Dinge, wo man plötzlich jemanden zum letzten mal in dieser Erscheinungsform gesehen hat.

Als Kind habe ich andere Dinge getan, als ich jetzt tue. Später werde ich andere Dinge tun, als ich jetzt tue. Als Mensch habe ich Hände, um zu tasten, zu erschaffen; Augen, um zu sehen; Ohren, um zu hören. Und spezielle Gaben für dieses jetzige Leben. Als Wesen aus einer anderen Galaxie habe ich diese Möglichkeiten vielleicht nicht. Ein Blinder sieht nichts. Ein Rollstuhlfahrer ist gebunden. Gefängnisinsassen tanzen nicht blutt bei einem Gewitter im Schlamm.

Viele Dinge sind noch analog, vieles noch unerforscht. Telepathie, Teleportation? Nein. Das Gefühl, auf dieser Kugel zu reisen, andere Orte besuchen – mit einem Vehikel. Und der Vorgang dauert eine Weile. Wo ist der Sinn der Reise, wenn wir die ganze Welt mit Portalen erschlossen hätten? Einmalig auf der Erde und zu dieser Zeit. Beschränkungen haben durchaus ihren Reiz.

Alle nehmen die Dinge so gegeben hin, wie sie sind. Dabei sind sie eigentlich einmalig. Wie war das Leben gestern? Wie ist es heute? Wie wird es morgen sein?

Früher hat man anderen Menschen von Ereignissen erzählt. Heute schiesse ich ein Bild von einer Szenerie und speichere sie in einem Gerät namens Fotoapparat. Ich muss mich um Dinge wie Belichtungszeit, Fokus und ISO-Werte kümmern. Übermorgen begleiten Nanobots eine Szene, zeichnen alle Ereignisse in Ultra-Zettayotta-HD-999k auf und bilden dann ein 3D-Modell nach, das man in einem Holodeck aus allen möglichen Winkeln nochmals begehen kann. Ich stelle mir grad vor, wie aus einer Woche Boom-Festival eine immer-wieder-begehbare und immer-wieder-was-neues-entdecken Holodeck-Simulation wird.

Wie war das Leben gestern? Wie ist es heute? Wie wird es morgen sein? Erzählen wir später anderen Zivilisationen und Sternenkolonien davon!

We’re interested in using Product Hunt as a megaphone to discuss the issues we care about and can address. Mental health is one of them.

Anxiety. Depression. Burnout.

We don’t really talk about it. Many people go through it, but most people suffer alone.

We want to kickstart a conversation in tech around stress and mental health, and to create a space where it’s okay for people to feel depressed and to talk about it. These feelings aren’t just okay, they’re human.

Startups can be particularly lonely because there’s a huge cognitive dissonance — everyone has to pretend they’re always killing it — to fuel the hype machine for investors, customers, and press. However, most of the time—given the failure rate of startups—most people’s businesses are dying, slowly and painfully. It’s not founders’ faults — this dissonance is built in the game. We’re trying to will something to existence. “Fake it until we make it” is almost part of the job description.

Which sparks a negative cycle: we pretend to be killing it all the time, so we don’t talk about how we’re struggling. Because we don’t talk about how we’re struggling, we don’t know that other people are struggling, too. Because we don’t know others are struggling, we feel alone and weak. One thing leads to another, and then one day we can’t get out of bed and we don’t know why.

People close to me have struggled with depression, and I’ve seen how it can plague — and end — the most promising of lives. While I’ve been fortunate not to suffer in that way, I’ve struggled with various forms of burnout. It wasn’t until I learned that people I admired also struggled with these feelings that I learned to be okay with it. Sharing and listening to my peers helped. Everyone sees the accomplishments but they don’t see the hardships. Having a community to share the lows with can keep you sane and even save your life.

At a tech conference a few months ago, I asked a crowd of a few hundred people if they had experienced some sort of serious burnout. Nearly everyone’s hands went up. Then I asked if these people had ever seen a therapist. No hands went up. One shy person raised their hand and said “I used to, but not anymore” a bit too declaratively.

Why aren’t we seeking help when we need it? Why do we shy away from talking about stress until it becomes serious? Why do we stigmatize therapy, depression, or even just checking in with each other?

The Inner Journey – what it is

The Inner Journey is a an instructional adjunct to the Quabalistic Mystery School teachings and training – the Western Esoteric Tradition. It is a commentary on the transformational problems and principles of students on the Qabalistic-Hermetic Path. A more exact analogy – if you were taking a difficult college course, The Inner Journey would be the equivalent of a personal tutor, clarifying obscure or difficult areas of the subject being studied. The Inner Journey is not a source of basic Qabalistic Cosmology; that is the province of the Mystery Schools. The Inner Journey does not coerce or even advise certain courses of action or esoteric practice. It tries to clarify the principles involved and leaves the student to choose.

[The] widespread communication [with readers from all over the world] has given me a sense of how similarly the process of the Path of Return operates, no matter the language or geographic location. Hence, questions sent from one area apply to all and the answers printed are universal in application.

For Inner Journey readers who are into computers, the IJ is done primarily on a 386 IBM clone, in Word Perfect, and printed on a Hewlett-Packard LaserJet 11, in either Korinna or Souvenir 11pt. typeface. Other typefaces are used occasionally. I bought a much bigger hard disk and have replaced the floppy drives since I started the IJ, and my very good HP Laser printer is now getting quite old and must be replaced soon. Way to go! Keith and I have collaborated on purchasing a library of scalable typefaces which we needed for this work. He does the formatting of the IJ text and graphics in Ventura for Windows.

Und dann kommt der zweite Teil.

Glückwunsch Köbi. So eine Panikmache hast du bereits vor einem Jahr geboten. Selbstverständlich hat er die Leaks und Folien so zusammengestellt, dass sein Tor und OTR natürlich gewinnt. Doch wer sagt mir, dass da nicht auch Folien in Snowdens Dokumentenschatztruhe sind, wo Tor verliert? Wir sind mal wieder abhängig von einigen wenigen Journalisten; und sie können sich das Material frei zusammenstellen, was sie veröffentlichen. Ich finde diese Situation unerträglich. „This information belongs to the public“, hat Snowden selber gesagt.
