Ich weiss, dass jeder von euch ein Krieger für die Wahrheit sein wird. Ich weiss, dass jeder von euch das Richtige tun wird, nicht den einfachen Weg. Und dass du dir selbst, deinem Land und deinen Überzeugungen treu bleiben wirst.

In meiner kurzen Zeit in Washington habe ich aus erster Hand gesehen, wie kaputt das System ist. Eine kleine Gruppe gescheiterter Stimmen, die glauben, alles zu wissen und alle zu verstehen. Wollen allen anderen sagen, wie sie leben und was sie tun und wie sie denken sollen. Aber du wirst dir nicht von anderen Leuten sagen lassen, was du glauben sollst, besonders, wenn du weisst, dass du Recht hast. Tatsache ist, dass niemand jemals etwas Bedeutendes erreicht hat, ohne dass ein Chor von Kritikern am Rande steht und allen erklärt, warum dies nicht möglich ist.

Aber die Zukunft gehört den Träumern. Nicht den Kritikern.

Die Zukunft gehört den Menschen, die ihrem Herzen folgen, egal, was die Kritiker sagen. Wenn ich dir heute eine Botschaft mitgeben kann, die du in deinem Herzen behalten solltest, ist es: Dass du niemals aufgeben darfst, niemals aufhören, für das zu kämpfen, woran du glaubst, und für die Menschen, die sich um dich kümmern. Kümmere dich um dich selbst mit Würde und Stolz. Verlange das Beste für dich selbst und habe keine Angst, fest verwurzeltes Interesse und gescheiterte Machtstrukturen herauszufordern.

Je mehr Leute dir sagen, dass es nicht möglich ist, dass dies nicht getan werden kann -- desto mehr absolut entschlossen solltest du sein, ihnen das Gegenteil zu beweisen.

Koste die Gelegenheit aus, ein Aussenseiter zu sein. Denn es sind die Aussenseiter, die die Welt verändert haben und die einen echten und dauerhaften Unterschied machen.

Je mehr dir ein kaputtes System sagt, dass du falsch liegst, desto entschlossener solltest du sein, weiter und weiter voranschreiten. Du musst weitermachen.

Und habe immer den Mut, dich selbst zu sein.
