..keine Wissenschaft, kaum Kranke, aber mehr Einschränkungen

Mit der Maskenpflicht in öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln beginnt heute offiziell in der Schweiz die zweite Welle. Angesichts fehlender Wissenschaft und Krankheitsfälle kann man über Sinn und Zweck der Verschärfungen nur rätseln. Eine Antwort liefert ausgerechnet der US-Pharmakonzern Merck, der die Maskenpflicht als «Idiotie» bezeichnet.

Die wissenschaftlichen Grundlagen sind extrem dürftig. Die Massnahmen werden in den Medien mit Grafiken über den Anstieg der Neuinfektionen begründet. Die kurzen Zeitreihen verunmöglichen allerdings einen Vergleich mit der ersten Welle, die um Grössenordnungen höher lag (aber immer noch wesentlich milder war als die Grippewelle von 2015 mit 2500 Todesfällen). Hier ein Beispiel aus dem Situationsbericht des BAG vom 5. Juli 2020:

Dass die Tests für diesen Anstieg auf tiefem Niveau massiv ausgeweitet wurden, wird allerdings verschwiegen. Und dass der Prozentsatz der Testpositiven wie seit Wochen unter 1 Prozent liegt, wird ebenfalls nicht genannt.

Das medizinisch relevante Geschehen in Bezug auf Covid-19 ist quasi irrelevant: In den letzten 14 Tagen gab es 14 Spitaleintritte (bei durchschnittlich über 4000 Hospitalisationen pro Woche, Basis Bundesamt für Statistik 2018) und 2 Todesfälle (bei durchschnittlich 1300 Todesfällen pro Woche (Bundesamt für Statistik 2019)

Obwohl wir es nur noch mit den Spurenelementen einer etwas überdurchschnittlichen Grippe zu tun haben, empfehlen die Kantonsärzte die Ausweitung der Maskenpflicht auf den gesamten öffentlichen Raum. Diese massive Einschränkung entbehrt jeder wissenschaftlichen Grundlage. Aber der Protest beschränkt sich auf die Kommentarspalten in online-Beiträgen. Die freie Meinungsäusserung muss nicht mehr eingeschränkt werden; sie hat sich in den Köpfen bereits durchgesetzt.

Die Wellen im Vergleich

• In der ersten Welle wurde gegen ein verbreitetes Virus gekämpft, das gemäss Hochrechnungen gefährlich erschien.
• In der zweiten Welle wird gegen ein Virus gekämpft, das nur noch vereinzelt vorkommt und mit Sicherheit nur für beschränkte Risikogruppen (alte Menschen mit Vorerkrankungen) gefährlich ist.
• In der ersten Welle wurde eine Überlastung des Gesundheitssystems erwartet.
• In der zweiten Welle gibt es praktisch keine Krankheitsfälle. Die Belastung des Gesundheitssystems liegt unter 0,2 Prozent.

Obwohl wissenschaftlich unbegründet, führt die zweite Welle in zahlreichen Ländern zur einer koordinierten Verschärfung der Massnahmen.

Über Sinn und Zweck dieser Kampagne kann man nur spekulieren.
Einen vielsagenden Hinweise liefert ein Plakat des Pharmariesen Merck. Um der «Maskenidiotie» zu entkommen, soll man sich impfen lassen.

Das erinnert bedenklich an den Trick, mit dem korrupte Softwarefirmen Geschäfte treiben: Zuerst wird der Computer der Nutzer mit einem Virus infiziert. Und dann verspricht man ihnen gegen gutes Geld Abhilfe gegen ein Problem, das man selber geschaffen hat.

Nur geht es in diesem Fall nicht nur um Geld, sondern um Grundrechte, um die Gesundheit und um unsere wirtschaftliche Zukunft
