Der Punkt, wo du merkst, wo deine Glaubensmuster herkommen – das ist die Stelle, wo du dein eigenes Weltbild bootstrappen kannst.

Es gibt verschiedene Wertesysteme und das Verhalten von anderen Menschen vom vergleichbaren Fähigkeitsgrad ist nicht deswegen anders, weil die böse oder verwirrt sind, sondern das liegt daran, dass die andere Werte haben, und aus diesen anderen Werten fliesst ein anderes Verhalten.

Innerhalb einer Gesellschaft sind die Leute stark inzentiviert, nicht laut zu sagen, wenn sie andere Werte haben – weil dann gibts Ärger.

Früher wars so, dass man Leute an den Baum genagelt hat, wenn sie öffentlich angekündigt haben: „Ich hab ’ne andere kulturelle Programmierung am laufen als du.“ Heute nagelt man sie nicht mehr an den Baum, aber es kann dazu führen, dass sie ihren Job als CEO von Mozilla verlieren.

Die Leute wissen, welche Werte sie in welchen Kontexten vertreten müssen. Wenn man sich aber zwischen verschiedenen Millieus bewegt, stellt man fest, dass Leute total unterschiedliche Werte haben.

Leute, die Werte haben; diese Werte sind eine Programmierung, mit der die Leute Teil eines Gruppengeistes (=Hivemind) werden. Hiveminds erkennt man z.B. daran, dass die Leute im Chor argumentieren. Die fangen dann an zu chanten. Nicht das Individuum denkt dann, sondern das Individuum spürt: ‚Das ist der richtige Gedanke meiner Gruppe, und ich darf den auch nicht in Frage stellen.‘ Erstaunlicherweise sind diese Gruppengeister oft dümmer als individuelle Geister. Die sagen Dinge, die dümmer sind, als das, wo sie normalerweise selber darauf kommen können. Sie haben aber das Gefühl, die Gedanken der Gruppe sind richtiger als das, wo sie selber darauf kommen.

Das Belohnungssystem sagt ihnen: Du bist Teil einer Gruppe, und wenn du Teil einer Gruppe bist, bist du stärker.

Die Wertesysteme sind programmiert. Wer programmiert die denn?

Die Kirche ist eine Institution, die über 2000 Jahre versucht hat, Leute zu programmieren.

Beispiel 10 Gebote: Das ist eine Vorgabe. Du hast immer noch den freien Willen zu sagen fuck you, bei einer Programmierung kannst du dich nicht entscheiden, es anders zu machen. Wenn du programmiert bist, dann folgst du dem. Das ist Training. Konditionierung.

Die wichtigste Entdeckung der letzten 10’000 Jahre war, dass es nichts wertvolleres gibt, als andere Menschen zu manipulieren.

Die meisten Leute versuchen ihr Weltbild zu formen, in dem sie rauskriegen, was die Experten denken über die Welt. Am Anfang die Lehrer und die coolen Kinder der Klasse, später die „wichtigen Experten“ auf der Welt.

Wieso machen Leute das überhaupt, dass sie Experten glauben, und nicht selber versuchen, Sachen herzuleiten?

Ihre Eltern haben sich einfach besser fortgepflanzt, wenn die das gemacht haben. Es gibt auch starke Inzentivierung, aber es funktioniert z.B. bei Nerds relativ schlecht. Wenn uns Nerds der Lehrer in der Schule was erzählt hat, dann hatten wir oft Schwierigkeiten, das zu glauben, weil der Lehrer das nicht logisch begründet hat, sondern durch Autorität. Nerds haben Schwierigkeiten, von Autoritäten zu lernen; die müssen das logisch begründet bekommen. „Ich bin selber relativ autoritätsblind, weil ich widerspreche Leuten, und ich merke dann, dass in meiner Umgebung Leute geschockt sind, weil dieser Mensch so ‚wichtig‘ war. Mir fällt es nicht auf, dass er wichtig ist – ich hab Respekt vor ihm, weil er hat halt viel gedacht – aber was mich interessiert, ist dieser eine Gedanke. Wenn ich z.B. mit einer Idee von Noam Chomsky nicht übereinstimme, dann widerspreche ich ihm halt. Normale Leute machen das nicht, weils halt Noam Chomsky ist. Für mich ist es sehr schwer, intuitiv nachzuvollziehen, warum die das nicht machen; wie schaffen die das, sich auf die Zunge zu beissen?“
