Im Vergleich zum Mossad wirkt die CIA wie eine aufgeblähte Webentwicklerfirma voller Skriptkiddies – und einigen Spezialisten. Sie benutzen Atlassian Confluence, Jira und schmücken ihre Einträge im Wiki mit Memes.
Bei diesen Wikiseiten muss ich mich fragen, ob die wirklich alle und jeden nehmen, der sich dort bewirbt.

Die Lücken, die bisher veröffentlicht wurden, zielen alle auf Standardkonfigurationen von bekannten Geräten ab. Notepad++, Browser, VLC, USB-Sticks, Fernseher (gerade mal ein Modell von einer Marke). Ich finde die Panikmache etwas übertrieben.
„DIE CIA HÖRT ALLE FERNSEHER AB!!“ stimmt nicht. Sie hat es geschafft, beim Samsung F8000 „Smart“ TV das Ausschalten vorzugaukeln und dabei das Mikrofon eingeschaltet zu lassen.
Und selbst da sind sie noch am kämpfen:

Die CIA ist also ein Forschungsinstitut für Schwachstellen. Mit dem Unterschied, dass sie die gefundenen Lücken für sich behält und gegen alle verwendet. Einverstanden, das ist gefährlich und unfair.
Doch wenn man zum Beispiel keinen Antivirus verwendet, oder den eigenen VLC Player statt den auf dem infizierten USB-Stick benutzt und sich nicht auf die Grundeinstellungen eines Gerätes oder einer Anwendung verlässt – wenn man ein paar Spielregeln beachtet und kleine Hebelchen umklappt, macht man es der CIA bereits viel viel schwerer. Oh, du hast einen Cloud-verbundenen Router, der offen am Internet hängt? Kein Wunder kommt die CIA da rein.
Einmal eine Enigmabox davor, und die Sache ist gegessen.
Ich wunderte mich schon, als ich sah, dass Antivirenhersteller ihre Updates nicht mal signieren. Und als Prüfsumme CRC32 verwenden. Und sich auf DNS verlassen. Ich signiere meine Updates, verwende SHA256 für die Prüfsummen und IP-Adressen zur Kommunikation mit den Aktualisierungsservern. Und dachte, das würde doch jeder Hersteller von Sicherheitsprodukten so machen? Dies sei ihm bewusst?
Nein, offensichtlich nicht. Die meisten Hersteller sind wirklich so flapsig. Dann kann ich mich ja zurücklehnen, wenn ich sehe, wenn so grundlegende, simple Sicherheitsvorkehrungen bereits nützen. Den Browser mit AppArmor so abriegeln, dass er nur noch auf den Download-Ordner Zugriff hat, statt auf das ganze Dateisystem. Skype einsperren, dass es nur noch auf seine Datenbankdateien zugreifen kann, und nicht z.B. aufs Bitcoin-Portemonnaie. Dann kann die CIA lange aus dem Sandkasten ausbrechen – nach dem Sandkasten kommt eine grosse Wand.
Ja, es funktioniert. Wir können uns schützen. Wir sind der CIA nicht ausgeliefert. Sie ist auch nicht so übermächtig, wie immer alle glauben.
Je mehr ich vom Gegner sehe, desto mehr verliert er seinen Schrecken. Sie kochen mit Wasser. Mit viel Wasser, aber immer noch mit Wasser.
Ach übrigens: Deshalb wird „Geheimdienstaufsicht“ nie funktionieren: Die CIA klassifiziert Hacking-Dokument als „geheim“, um sich der Strafverfolgung zu entziehen.
