Heute stosse ich auf einen Artikel, dass Schweden das Bargeld komplett aus dem Verkehr ziehen will.
Schweden schafft sukzessive das Bargeld ab. Mehr als jede vierte Bankfiliale nimmt mittlerweile weder Bargeld entgegen noch zahlt sie solches aus.
Die schwedische Bank Swedbank kündigte nun an, auch in ihrer traditionsreichsten Filiale in einem wohlhabenden Stadtteil Stockholms den Bargelddienst einzustellen. Das Vorhaben sorgt in einer langjährigen kontroversen Diskussion für neuen Zündstoff.
Die Bank verspricht ihren Kunden von der Abschaffung des Bargelds Vorteile: Sie sei in Zukunft weniger mit Bargeld beschäftigt und habe deshalb mehr Zeit für ihre Kunden. In Schweden ist Bargeld seit Jahren auf dem Rückzug. Von den landesweit 1200 Bankfilialen bieten 330 keine Bargelddienste mehr an.
An der Pommes-Bude mit Kreditkarte zahlen
Auch im alltäglichen Zahlungsverkehr spielen Kartenzahlungen eine immer größere Rolle. Wie der „Münchner Merkur“ in seiner Online-Ausgabe berichtet, ist der Einsatz von Kreditkarten auch für die Bezahlung von Kleinstbeträgen an Würstchenbuden und Kiosken alltäglich. Im öffentlichen Nahverkehr Stockholms sind Barzahlungen demnach zum Teil gar nicht mehr möglich.
In Schweden wird die „bargeldlose Gesellschaft“ seit Jahren kontrovers diskutiert. Banken werden bei ihren Plänen zur Bargeldabschaffung von Gewerkschaften unterstützt, die gerne mit Sicherheitsaspekten argumentieren (kein Bargeld=keine Raubüberfälle). Auch der Einzelhandel frohlockt – registrierend, dass die Kundschaft mit Karte mehr ausgibt.
Der gläserne Konsument
Kritische Stimmen halten dagegen und verweisen auf das Bedürfnis vieler gerade älterer Menschen nach Bargeld. Zudem wird kritisiert, dass die Abschaffung des Bargelds jede einzelne Transaktion in Verbindung mit einer bestimmten Person bringen könnte – Konsumenten könnten leicht bis in jedes Detail ihrer Gewohnheiten durchleuchtet werden.
In Deutschland scheint die Abschaffung des Bargeld noch in weiter Ferne: Deutsche Verbraucher zahlen besonders gern bar und zeigen sich technischen Innovationen rund um den bargeldlosen Zahlungsverkehr eher skeptisch gegenüber. Der jüngste Beleg dafür ist die Verschiebung der bundesweiten Einführung von „Girogo“ durch die Kreditwirtschaft, die auch auf mangelndes Interesse bei Verbrauchern zurückzuführen ist.
