1. HAARP
Der Name HAARP steht für High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program. Offiziell handelt es sich hierbei um ein US-amerikanisches ziviles und militärisches Forschungsprogramm, bei dem hochfrequente elektromagnetische Wellen eingesetzt werden. Nach offizieller Darstellung geschieht dies zur Untersuchung der oberen Atmosphäre sowie der Funkwellenausbreitung, Kommunikation und Navigation. Die Funktionsweise dieser Anlage bietet aber auch enorme Möglichkeiten globaler Manipulation, wie einsehbare Patente bezeugen.
Die Antennen von HAARP senden ein Signal mit einer bestimmten Schwingung in die Ionosphäre, welches dort reflektiert wird und auf die Erde trifft/durchdringt. So will man die Erde wie „durchleuchten“ und auf Gesteine, Metalle, Geheimbasen untersuchen.
Das Problem ist die Resonanz: Bei sehr starken Strahlungen kann die Erde anfangen, mitzuschwingen.

Einige Verschwörungstheoretiker sehen Zusammenhänge zwischen dem Betrieb der HAARP-Anlage und weltweit stattfindenden Naturkatastrophen wie Überschwemmungen, Stromausfällen und Vulkanausbrüchen, manchmal wird auch Gedankenmanipulation mittels ELF-Wellen unterstellt.
Auch die BBC verbreitete in den 1990ern entsprechende Berichte. Allerdings konnte bisher kein kausaler Zusammenhang nachgewiesen werden und es gibt andererseits schon seit langem andere Sendeanlagen, die mit vergleichbar hohen Strahlungsleistungen Rundfunkprogramme verbreiten. Selbst die genannte BBC setzt seit Jahrzehnten Kurzwellensendeanlagen ein, die eine effektive Strahlungsleistung von über 100 MW erlauben. Radio Moskau erreichte schon in den 1980er-Jahren durch Zusammenschalten mehrerer starker Sender sogar effektive omnidirektionale Strahlungsleistungen von über 400 MW.
Am 5. Februar 1998 führte der Unterausschuss für Sicherheit und Abrüstung des Europäischen Parlaments eine Anhörung durch, die unter anderem HAARP behandelte[5]. Einziger Befragter, obwohl auch Vertreter der USA und NATO eingeladen waren, bei dieser Anhörung war der Buchautor und Geschäftsmann Nick Begich jr.. Er vertritt die Meinung, dass die HAARP-Anlage für „geophysikalische Kriegsführung“ genutzt werden könne. Er beruft sich dabei auf ältere erteilte amerikanische Patente, die jedoch aufgrund von Einschränkungen nicht realisierbar sind. Patente können in den USA unabhängig von ihrer Realisierbarkeit erteilt werden. So soll bei einem der von Begich genannten Patente etwa ein Drittel des Strombedarfs der gesamten USA für eine derartige Anlage zur Verfügung stehen müssen. Das Ergebnis dieser Anhörung ging in einen Entschließungsantrag an das Europäische Parlament ein, in dem Bedauern über die Informationspolitik der USA bezüglich HAARP und der Bedarf nach weiterer unabhängiger Forschung zu den Auswirkungen von HAARP ausgedrückt wird.
