Ich finde, Papier ist das technisch hochwertigste Produkt überhaupt. Verglichen mit einem Notebook: Man kann darauf Informationen abspeichern, ob nun handschriftlich oder digital, ganz ohne Strom. Man muss nicht auf einen Knopf drücken und zwei Minuten warten, bis das Papier bereit ist. Papier stürzt nicht ab.

Ziemlich schrullige Technik also, diese papierlosen Büros.

Wobei: Papier kann abstürzen. Wenn, dann aber elegant!

Es fing an, als ich und Yves beschlossen, einen Sonntag lang von St. Gallen nach Abtwil Geocaches zu suchen, um anschliessend im Cinedome Transformers zu schauen. Insgesamt hatten wir 6 Caches herausgesucht, jedoch nahm schon der erste Cache enorm Zeit in Anspruch. Wir beschlossen, mit dem Bus direkt nach Abtwil zu fahren und nur noch den Movie-Cache beim Cinedome zu suchen.

Dummerweise hatten wir jetzt aber wieder zuviel Zeit. Also schnell die Tickets und ein Filmprospekt holen und Caches in Nächster Nähe aufsuchen.

Auf dem Weg zum Cache kamen wir aber über eine megahohe Brücke: Die Fürstenlandbrücke.

Wir bewunderten die Höhe beim drübergehen, und diskutierten, ob es wohl reichen würde, mit dem Gurtzeug und Notschirm hier ein wenig Basejumping zu betreiben…
Doch dann wurde uns plötzlich bewusst, dass wir ja ein Filmprospekt dabei haben. Papierflieger!

Und so falteten wir einen nach dem anderen. The Bourne Ultimatum, Ratatouille, Hairspray – alle Filme wurden in schnittige Papierflitzer verwandelt und segelten auf einem langen Weg nach unten. Und das macht mit der Zeit richtig süchtig! Es ist extrem spannend, Papier so zu falten, dass es möglichst lange in der Luft gleitet.

Zuhause setzte ich mich gleich hin und suchte nach Bauanleitungen für Papierflieger. Und wurde fündig! Es gibt tatsächlich eine Seite mit 21 verschiedenen Modellen, geordnet nach Schwierigkeitsgrad!

Zwei Wochen später.

Nach dem Nachtessen druckte ich ein paar Anleitungen aus und wir begannen, ein paar Modelle zu basteln. Yves ist nach wie vor begeistert von seinem „Pfeil“ – ich setze jedoch auf die „Schwalbe“. Der F-15 sieht genial aus – fliegt aber noch nicht so richtig (vermutlich liegt das an der etwas ungeschickten Faltung…)

Zum Glück wohne ich im 3. Stock – ein ideales Testgelände für Papierflieger-Prototypen. Wer schafft es zuerst an die Hauswand auf der anderen Strassenseite?
Ich versuchte, möglichst viele der Modelle nachzubauen, während Yves an seinem „Pfeil“ feilte und ihn von Version zu Version verbesserte.

Sein Papierflieger schaffte es schliesslich auch beim vierten oder fünften Versuch bis an die Hauswand. Später gelang das auch meinem Modell „Nick“.

Papierflieger, was für eine spassige Sache! Früher hatten wir mehr aus Langeweile die schlechten Matheprüfungen durchs Schulhaus gondeln lassen. Aber jetzt – das ist schon fast eine Wissenschaft! Wie bringe ich ein Blatt Papier dazu, dass es möglichst weit fliegt? Erlaubt ist nur Falten; also kein Schneiden und kein Leimen.

Voll geil. Wir müssen unbedingt wieder an die grosse Brücke, und die neuen Modelle testen!
