Gestern waren Dave und ich Gäste an der Vorpremiere von Smokin‘ Aces im Kino Capitol. Sehr gefreut haben wir uns nicht nur deshalb, weil wir an diesem „exklusiven Event“ teilnehmen durften, sondern auch, weil es kostenlos war. *freu*

Zum Film:
Der verkokste und versoffene Ex-Las Vegas-Entertainer Buddy „Aces“ Israel sollte für das FBI als Kronzeuge gegen die Mafia aussagen. Weil der Deal aber noch nicht unter Dach und Fach war versteckte sich Aces mitsamt seiner Entourage im Penthouse eines Casinos am Lake Tahoe.
Als nun das FBI-Überwachungsteam vor dem Haus des dahinscheidenden Mafiabosses von einer 1 Mio Dollar Gage für den Tod Israels und die Ablieferung seines Herzens hört müssen sich die Polizisten beeilen, um ihren Kronzeugen vor der internationalen Berufskillerelite zu finden und seiner habhaft zu werden.

Soweit die Ausgangslage. Was nun folgt ist ein Rennen mit dem Ziel in Israels Penthouse in Lake Tahoe. Spassig ist es vor allem die verschiedenen Profikiller zu vergleichen. Da gibt es den ruhigen berechnenden Typen, der sich auch mal die Fingerkuppen abnagt, um nicht identifiziert zu werden, die beiden weiblichen Killerinnen, die ihr hübsches Äusseres, knappe Kleider und schweres Geschütz auffahren, den Superstar der Branche, der sich einige Tricks von Mr. Ethan Hunt abgeschaut hat, oder meine persönlichen Favoriten, ein Neonazi-Brüdertrio, das sich seinen Weg durch die Menge schlachtet und dabei auch auf eher martialische Waffen wie Kettensägen, usw zurückgreift. Eine illustre Truppe also, die alle mehr oder weniger zur gleichen Zeit im Hotel ankommen und das erwartete Blutbad hinterlassen.

Dass die Geschichte am Ende noch eine dramatische Wendung nimmt, ist zwar unnötig, schadet aber nicht wirklich, hat man doch vorher schon genügend Blut spritzen sehen und genügend böse Sätze gehört, dass es noch gross stört.

Fazit: Ein Actionvergnügen der gröberen Sorte, das unterhält, aber nicht mehr.
