Gestern Abend bin ich noch zufällig auf so ein Game gestumbled. Och nee, ein Java-Game, das kann wohl nichts Gutes sein. Aber ok, ich kann es ja mal ein paar Minuten antesten…

Und aus Minuten wurden Stunden. So ein simples Spielprinzip – aber so genial! Stellt euch vor: Es gibt Sand, Wasser, Salz und Öl. Diese Sachen können von der Decke rieseln, oder werden mit einem Pinsel auf die Bildfläche gemalt. Wie in MsPaint… Nur dass dort jetzt noch Schwerkraft herrscht. Und die Manipuliert jedes Pixel – es ist ein vollständiges Partikelsystem!

Es gibt verschiedene Arten von Partikeln. Nebst den oben genannten existieren noch Pflanzen, die sich dann im Wasser verbreiten und wiederum angezündet und vom Feuer verschlungen werden können. Oder wir malen uns mit dem „Wand-Partikel“ einen Behälter und fangen Öl auf, das wiederum von den brennenden Pflanzen mit einer Wachsspur in Flammen gesetzt wird…

Man fühlt sich wie früher in den Sandkasten zurückversetzt. Aber es ist weit mehr als das; es grenzt schon fast an ein Physik-Labor!
Achtung: Zeitkiller! Nur noch hier eine Wand machen, dort noch ein bisschen Wasser hinein und da ein Loch rein – und schon ist wieder eine Stunde vorbei!

Oben: Regen-, Strömungs- oder Abfluss-Simulation – ich weiss nicht, was es ist, aber es sieht genial aus! Oder lass uns einen Staudamm-Bruch simulieren… Alles ist möglich!

Von „Falling Sand“ gibt es ein Java-Applet oder zwei Standalone-Varianten, von denen eine noch mehr Elemente wie Gas oder Dampf hat.
