Das Gerücht um ein Betriebssystem aus dem Hause Google hat sich bestätigt. Der Suchmaschinenbetreiber arbeitet an einer Linux-Distribution mit dem Namen Goobuntu.
Das dürfte Microsoft wenig freuen: Google hat gegenüber dem britischen News-Dienst The Register bestätigt, dass man eine eigene Linux-Distribution entwickle. Sie soll auf der populären Distribution Ubuntu basieren und den Übernamen Goobuntu tragen. Weitere Details wollte die Suchfirma nicht verraten auch nicht, was der Zweck des Projekts sei. The Register rätselt nun, ob Goobuntu nur eine Spielerei von Google ist, von der Firma intern eingesetzt wird oder gar als Konkurrenz für Windows gedacht ist.
