Da fliegen die Daten – Was eine Zeile in der squid.conf alles bewirken kann…

Normalerweise hört Squid mit dem Laden auf, wenn ein Download vom Benutzer abgebrochen wird. Folgender Eintrag bewirkt, dass Squid seelenruhig weiterlädt, auch wenn der Benutzer abbricht:

quick_abort_min -1 KB

Vorteil: Man muss einen Download nur kurz „anstossen“, und danach kann man den PC ausschalten…
Startet man den Download nach einer Zeit erneut, kriegt man die in der Zwischenzeit heruntergeladenen Daten blitzschnell über’s LAN. Der Download muss noch nicht einmal abgeschlossen sein!
Ein weiterer Vorteil: Alle anderen PCs im LAN profitieren ebenfalls davon. Dies macht vor allem auch Sinn bei Security-Updates.

Kleiner Nachteil: Versehentlich angeklickte Downloadlinks belasten die Leitung…
