Atomwaffen: Freipass für Bush?
Um Schurkenstaaten und Terroristen abzuschrecken, plädieren Experten im Pentagon für den Einsatz von Atomwaffen.
Vor allem Staaten oder Extremistengruppen, die einen Angriff mit Massenvernichtungswaffen auf die USA, verbündete Kräfte oder die Zivilbevölkerung planen, wollen die Strategen im Pentagon in Zukunft präventiv mit Kernwaffen bekämpfen können.
Der Einsatz von Nuklearwaffen könne aber auch zur Beschleunigung des Endes konventioneller Kriege beschlossen werden, oder «um den Erfolg von US- und multinationalen Operationen
zu gewährleisten». Ferner sollten die USA unter Umständen auch gegen Staaten mit Atomwaffen vorgehen, die versuchen, ABC-Waffen an Extremistengruppen weiterzureichen.
Die Doktrin würde das Pentagon zudem ermächtigen, Atomwaffen in allen Regionen der Welt zu stationieren, in der ihr Einsatz am ehesten gefragt sein könnte.
Die USA bräuchten ein umfangreiches Potenzial, «um Freund und Feind von ihrer Entschlossenheit zu überzeugen», heisst es im Pentagon-Dokument, das am Wochenende bekannt wurde. So soll auch ein nuklearer Sprengkopf entwickelt werden, der Bunker unter der Erde zerstören kann.
