Jetzt kommt der schon wieder mit seinen Apple-Geschichten!

Liebe Leser, verzeiht mir! Lasst euch nicht nerven von meinen ewigen Blogs über Apple & Co (mittlerweile sind es an die 15). Dies ist für mich halt nun mal Neuland, und meine Begeisterung ist auch nach diesem Bericht auf Tom’s Hardware Guide erst recht nicht zu stoppen:

Der Bericht spiegelt genau das wieder, was ein Mac mini ist: Ein PC zum arbeiten. Gamer bevorzugen nach wie vor ihre getunten Büchsen. Verzichte ich auf’s Gamen, kann ich mit meinem Mac genau das machen, was ich will:

– PHP’len (u.a. diese Site)
– Office Zeugs
– Bildbearbeitung, Photoshop
– Videos schneiden
– Cinema 4D
– Achterbahnen bauen (NoLimits Rollercoasters)
– Musik hören, vielleicht aber auch mal komponieren?
– DVDs schauen.
Das ganze natürlich in Hi-Quality, vielleicht später sogar mal in High-Definition? 😛

Dass OSX auf Unix basiert, und X11-Anwendungen somit laufen, kommt mir auch sehr entgegen. Die Standardshell ist Bash; VIM, Apache, Samba, SSH & Co. sind standardmässig vorinstalliert ([Link]). Ich muss mich nicht mehr jedesmal einen Kernel neu kompilieren, wenn ich irgend eine Netzwerkkarte anschliessen will. Geschweige denn, dass sie schlussendlich überhaupt läuft… Linux ist cool, aber ein System für Bastler. Doch ich will auch noch Videos schneiden, DVD’s schauen und Multimedia-Zeugs machen. Dort hörts bei Linux leider ziemlich schnell auf. Darum musste ich bisher mit einem Dual-Boot System arbeiten; Windows, damit C4D, Nolimits, Dreamweaver etc. läuft, und Linux – naja, nach einer Weile liess ich es sein damit :-/ Ich hatte die ewigen X11-Fehlermeldungen, das nächtelange Testen, Kernel kompilieren (with Errors 😉 satt. Soll sich doch jemand anders darum kümmern; ich will ein System, das läuft, und auf dem alles läuft.
Warum denn nicht beides kombinieren? Et Voilà, jetzt kommt OSX. Realisiert habe ich das selber erst, als ich mich intensiv mit Apple auseinanderzusetzen begann. Schade, dass Apple vor OSX so viel Mist gebaut hat. Nun denkt fangs jeder, dass Macs scheisse sind. Doch diese Zeiten sind zum Glück vorbei.

Och je, jetzt habe ich ja schon wieder etliche Zeilen von Apple und Macs geschwärmt – man liest von mir ja fast nichts anderes mehr als Apple Apple Apple…… Sorry!
Doch es sieht in nächster Zeit gar nicht danach aus, dass sich das gross ändern wird 😉
