Wir erinnern uns: Bitcoin ist eine digitale Währung ohne Zentralbank. Überhaupt ganz ohne Banken. Das Geld wird aus der Rechenleistung des Netzwerks geschöpft, an dem jeder Teilnehmen kann. Die Transaktionen werden von jedem Teilnehmer kryptographisch verifiziert, so dass kein Schindluder damit getrieben werden kann. Ein Konto ist eine Adresse, die z.B. so aussieht:

Aus technischer Sicht ist das ein Public Key. Jeder kann darauf Geld überweisen. Der Besitzer des Private Keys, der digitalen Brieftasche, dem gehört das Konto, er sieht seinen Kontostand und kann darüber Transaktionen tätigen.

Bislang habe ich mich nicht gross darum gekümmert, selber Bitcoins zu besitzen. Das hätte ich lassen sollen. Eine SMS eines Freundes und einige Blogbeiträge von Richard Falkvinge machten mich auf den Kurs aufmerksam. Seit Anfang März geht das hoch wie eine Rakete. Ein Ende ist nicht abzusehen, warum das so ist, erkläre ich gleich. So entschloss ich mich kurzerhand, so viele Bitcoins zu kaufen, wie ich vernünftig vermag, ohne dass mir dabei unwohl wird und ich mich verschulde.

Genau das habe ich. Das war am vergangenen Samstag, 6. April. Jetzt haben wir Montag, und meine Bitcoins haben einen Wert von CHF 1000.- (!!) 🙂

Tendenz steigend. Und gleichzeitig gehen mir die typischen Gedanken durch den Kopf: Ach hätte ich doch schon früher… Wenn ich damals, dann hätte ich heute…

Die beste Anlage, die man Nutzen kann. Denn:

Keine zentrale Autorität

Da Bitcoin dezentral funktioniert, kann man es nicht abschalten. Man kann zwar den Firmen offiziell verbieten, Bitcoin für Zahlungen zu verwenden, doch im Untergrund wird es weiterhin genutzt. Oder zum Beispiel in Zypern, wo die Banken den Menschen sowieso nichts mehr nützen.

Seit die Menschen begriffen haben und sehen, dass der Staat ihnen das Geld einfach so wegnehmen kann, vertrauen sie den Banken nicht mehr. Überall Krisen und Schulden.

Popularität & Wert nimmt zu

Der Wert eines Bitcoins steigt stetig. Expensify integriert als Zahlungsmöglichkeit Bitcoin als Option neben PayPal und Banküberweisung. Expensify ist ein Zahlungsanbieter für Spesen. Damit machen sie Bitcoin richtig öffentlich und integrieren es in bestehende Zahlungsabläufe. Bitcoin wird wirtschaftlich relevant.

Die Banken haben ausgedient

Lass mich mal darüber lästern, wie vorgestern die Banken eigentlich sind.

• Eine Überweisung dauert einen Tag
• Am Wochenende ist Wochenende – keine Überweisungen finden statt
• Die Bank erhebt Zinsen und Transaktionsgebühren – für das eine Zahl auf einem Kabel hin- und herwandert
• Die Bank sieht, wem wieviel Geld gehört, woher es kommt und wohin es geht

Brauchen wir das? Nein. Geht zum Teufel! Wir brauchen keine Banken. Mit Bitcoin kann ich jederzeit anonym beliebig viel Geld an irgendjemanden auf der Welt senden, und wenn das 10 Minuten dauert, dann ist das bereits lang.

Bitcoin gewinnt immer mehr das Vertrauen

Aktuell kann man Bitcoins mit den bestehenden Währungen von jemandem abkaufen. Bitcoins werden momentan wie Aktien behandelt, eigentlich ist es eine Peer-to-Peer Kryptoaktie. Es gibt verschiedene Börsenportale, auf denen man handeln kann. Lass uns das Gedankenkonstrukt aber weiter spinnen: Irgendwann wird jeder Mensch Bitcoins haben. Das bestehende Geldsystem wird langsam unterwandert und nach und nach abgelöst. Die Banken werden überflüssig. Die Macht geht zurück zu den Menschen. Ein anarchistisches Geldsystem.

Wenn Bitcoin das neue Geldsystem wird, dann ist ein grosser Schritt zur Befreiung der Menschheit getan.

Ein Bitcoin wird noch viel mehr Wert sein

Die Anzahl der Bitcoins ist per Definition auf 21’000’000 begrenzt. Das bedeutet, es gibt keine Inflation. Das bedeutet aber auch: Wenn der Bitcoin das neue globale Geld wird, dann wird sein Wert nicht etwa CHF 50.- oder 100.- sein, sondern geschätzt 100’000.- bis 1’000’000.-. (The Target Value For Bitcoin Is Not Some $50 Or $100. It Is $100,000 To $1,000,000).

Aktien können sich in Luft auflösen. Bitcoins sind kryptographisch gesicherte Rechenergebnisse, gestützt durch die Rechenkapazität aller Teilnehmer.

Versteht ihr jetzt, wenn ich behaupte, dass Bitcoins die sicherste Geldanlage momentan sind?

Kritikpunkte und Gefahren

Der Kurs schwankt. Stürzt ab.
Das ist schon passiert. Es wird immer Holperer und Hürden geben, wenn ein neues System kommt. Nichtsdestotrotz hat Bitcoin das bis heute überlebt.

Eine Börse wird gehackt.
Auch das passiert. Das bedeutet aber nicht, dass die Bitcoins in der eigenen Brieftasche einfach weg sind. Bloss eine der vielen Börsen hat ein Problem. Bitcoins in der eigenen Brieftasche bleiben dort.

Virenangriff.
In der Tat. Durch die steigende Popularität und den steigenden Wert werden die Bitcoin-Brieftaschen zu einem lohnenswerten Ziel.

Datenverlust.
Sichert eure Brieftasche. Macht ein Backup von eurer Brieftasche. Sichert eure Brieftasche. Macht ein Backup von eurer Brieftasche. Und noch mal eins. Verschlüsselt. An mehreren Standorten. Sichert eure Brieftasche. Ist die Brieftasche weg, ist das Geld weg.

Deflation.
Leute sterben und reissen ihre Brieftasche mit in den Tod – oder verlieren sie, wie oben beschrieben. Das ist in der Tat ein Problem – denn dann fehlt dieses Geld in den 21 Millionen. (Oder wird das Geld durch die Transaktionsgebüren (die jeder selber festlegen kann), wieder erstellt bis zum 21mio Limit? Hausaufgabe!)

Trolle.
Jemand überweist einen grossen Betrag an eine fiktive Adresse – z.B. 0000000000000000000000000000000000. Dieses Geld ist ebenfalls weg.

Die NSA.
Falls die NSA eine grössere Rechenkapazität als das gesamte Bitcoin-Netzwerk hat, kann sie das Netzwerk übernehmen und Transaktionen fälschen.

Chinesische Supergenies finden in Algorithmen eine Abkürzung.
Dann wird sämtliche Kryptographie nutzlos und dann haben wir ein Problem.

Quantencomputer.
Finden ebenfalls eine Abkürzung. Auch dann haben wir ein Problem.

Vertrauensverlust durch ungewöhnliche Ereignisse.
Butterflylabs stellt dedizierte Mining-Hardware her, die die Leistung der besten Grafikkarte um das zigtausendfache übersteigt. Kursschwankungen, Aufruhr, wenn diese Geräte ausgeliefert werden und ihre Arbeit beginnen.

Staatliche Verbote.
Die Staaten und Banken merken, dass ihnen ihre Macht entrissen wird und sie ihre Leute nicht mehr besteuern können und schlagen Alarm. Bitcoin wird als Zahlungsmittel verboten.
Gegenmassnahme: Genug Wirtschaft und Arbeitsplätze dranbinden, dann können sie es nicht verbieten. Weil sonst, Wirtschaft und Arbeitsplätze, wissenschon.

Leute, die als erste Bitcoin verwendet haben und dementsprechend viele Bitcoins günstig ansammeln konnten, sind steinreich.
Stimmt. Aber ist es nicht schon heute so, dass Leute, die ein Risiko eingehen und früh investieren, reich werden, durch welche Investition auch immer? Mir sind reiche Hacker lieber als reiche Bankster.

Jeder hortet Bitcoins und gibt sie nicht aus.
Das hatte ich auch befürchtet. Aber seht es wie ein Leiterlispiel: Diejenigen, die genug Bitcoins haben, möchten auch etwas damit tun. Gegen Geld eintauschen. Oder waren kaufen. Sie geben Bitcoins aus und bringen sie in Umlauf zu Leuten, die noch keine haben und unbedingt welche wollen, weil sie begehrt sind. Natürlich: Je früher man Bitcoins hat, desto besser.
