Hin und wieder richte ich kleine Homepages ein für Kunden aus dem privaten Umfeld oder für Vereine. In den meisten Fällen handelt es sich um Leute, die „nicht viel“ bis „fast gar keine“ Ahnung davon haben, wie sie ihre Homepage verwalten sollen. Falls es keinen ausdrücklichen Wunsch für ein bestimmtes Produkt jeweils gab, hatte ich bisher dieser Zielgruppe immer WordPress eingerichtet – im Hinblick darauf, dass WordPress eine relativ einfache und übersichtliche Verwaltungsoberfläche besitzt. So hoffte ich, dass meine Kunden damit ohne grosse Probleme umgehen konnten.

Mittlerweile bin ich aber nicht mehr so überzeugt davon, da trotzdem einige Kunden Schwierigkeiten damit hatten. Nach langem zögern habe ich nun mal Textpattern ausprobiert und bin angenehm überrascht über dessen Einfachheit. Wer nicht gerade hohe Anforderungen stellt und viele Features sucht (egal ob in der Basisinstallation dabei oder per Plugin nachladbar), der wird mit der simplen Bedienung von Textpattern freude haben. Textpattern ermöglicht damit Leuten, die kaum Erfahrungen haben, damit ein einfaches CMS (es ist nicht nur als Blog gebrauchbar).

Installiert ist Textpattern schnell, jedoch schnell mal ein Theme installieren wie in WordPress – das ist alles andere als einfach. Ein richtiges System zum schnellen Austauschen gibts nicht bzw. ist erst in den Anfängen und kein Standard. Entsprechend wenige Themes gibts dafür. Für Englisch-Muffel gibts auch eine gute deutsche Seite zu Textpattern, interessant vor allem für Entwickler.

Technologie macht mich ganz konfus. Sie scheint im Moment vor allem gegen uns verwendet zu werden. Arbeitsplatzverluste durch Prozessorkapazitäten und die Wurmplagen biblischen Ausmasses mal beiseite gelassen: Die Segnungen des IT- und Telekommunikationszeitalters dienen derzeit vor allem dazu, die Menschen zu überwachen (Sicherheit!) und zu drangsalieren (Marketing!).

Dennoch bin ich zuversichtlich. Die Technologie ist nämlich auch die Lösung. Bereits befinden sich etwa Verfahren in Entwicklung, die von Überwachungskameras aufgenommene Personen unkenntlich machen – und sie nur im Notfall, etwa durch ein Passwort, ans Licht zerren. Kopierschutzverfahren im Bereich der Musik sind praktisch tot – gebodigt von renitenten Hackern. Dell hat jetzt in den USA seine ersten Linux-PCs lanciert – auf Wunsch seiner Kunden. Kurz: Jede Technologie enthält – so richtig yinyangmässig – auch eine Anti-Technologie. Die Sonne im Herzen löst die Cumulusierung der Gesellschaft auf.

Der Mensch richtets nämlich selbst. So wie der irakische Künstler Wafaa Bilal. Er hat sich in einen Raum eingeschlossen und lässt sich von einem internetgesteuerten Paintball-Gewehr beschiessen. Mit Technologie macht er auf die Lage der Menschen im Irak aufmerksam, die quasi ständig einen Lauf am Kopf haben. Und er hält uns den Spiegel vor, wie Technologie uns entfremdet und von der Realität distanziert.

Ich habe Hoffnung. Das technologische System um uns herum ist noch jung – das vergesse auch ich allzu leicht. Wir stecken noch in den Anfängen.

Und alles wird gut.

Nun ist es soweit; ich bin endlich dazugekommen, das Videomaterial meiner IPA-Präsentation zu rendern – wenn auch das Bild etwas unscharf ist und ich ab und zu etwas an der Helligkeit schrauben musste…

Wie schon erwähnt, habe ich mich an Steve Jobs‘ Präsentationen angelehnt. Denn selbstverständlich lasse ich mich NICHT in diese Powerpoint Zwangsjacke zwängen, schon gar nicht bei meiner Abschlussarbeit.

Wer kennt sie nicht: Die Powerpoint Folien, welche nach Firmenvorlagen erstellt wurden, diese unübersichtlichen Dinger, auf denen schon geschrieben steht, was der Moderator bereits erzählt. Und spätestens nach der zweiten Folie ist das Publikum fest eingeschlafen.

Skypen und Surfen im Zug, ist das nicht praktisch?

Mit Biegen und Brechen habe ich eine Internetverbindung von meinem iBook über Bluetooth zum Handy und dann über GPRS zustande gebracht. Mann – das Ding ist eine Strahlenkanone! Das Handy ist schon ganz warm, mein Kopf auch und meine Hände kribbeln… Es ist eben ein Unterschied, ob man über WLAN mit 200 Milliwatt oder mit GPRS mit 2 Watt surft…

Abenteuerlich – besonders wenn man während der Zugfahrt eine Datei über Skype schicken will und dann kommt ein Tunnel! 😉

Doch wie kommt es, dass ich mit dem iBook im Zug sitze? Gleitschirmferien. Und für das ist die ganze Sache äusserst praktisch. Nicht zuletzt dadurch, dass ein iBook klein und mobil ist und eine lange Akkulaufzeit hat. Nein, jetzt mit dem Handy-Internet geht das noch viel mehr ab. Oh, wir wissen nicht genau, wo sich das Hotel befindet? Schnell map.search.ch auf der Strassenecke aufklappen. Wann und wo müssen wir umsteigen? Und das wichtigste: Wie ist die aktuelle Wetter- / Windlage?

Gut, der Wind war heute scheisse. Und dank dem Notebook wissen wir, dass es morgen genau so sein wird und nun sind auf der Heimfahrt 🙁

So, nun ist es vorbei. Meine Individuelle Produktivarbeit (IPA) wurde heute morgen mit einer fetzigen Steve-Jobs Präsentation abgeschlossen! Dies war unter anderem auch der Grund dafür, dass es hier ein wenig ruhig war in letzter Zeit.

Klar liess ich mich nicht in die „Coop-Standards“-Zwangsjacke zwängen, sondern überzeugte die Experten mit ausgefallenen Special-Effects. Mal sehen, ob ich diese Präsentation noch auf Video aufnehme und online stelle – die drei Wochen Arbeit wären es sicher Wert!

Schon witzig: Vor zwei Jahren führte mir Elmar seine Präsentation vor. Und heute sitze sass ich in diesem Boot. Aus und vorbei – der erste Teil meiner Abschlussarbeit ist getan.
