Virtualisieren scheint momentan voll im Trend zu sein. Ich habe mit VMWare gute Erfahrungen gemacht, weil es einfach funktioniert. Halt langsam…

So, und jetzt stellt euch mal folgendes vor: Die Zuverlässigkeit von VMWare kombiniert mit der Performance von WINE. Was kommt dabei heraus? Parallels Desktop!

Ich habe mir gestern ein Herz gefasst und die Trialversion installiert. Das geht dann aber anders ab! Es fängt an bei der Installation: Ich gebe Name, Firma und XP-Key ein, und Parallels installiert das OS vollautomatisch – und mit einem Speed – WOW! Nach einer Viertelstunde hatte Windows das letzte mal gebootet, und ich sah die grüne, hässliche Wiese.

Doch es kommt noch besser:
Auf der Webseite von Parallels steht, dass seit neustem 3D-Games(!) emuliert werden. Also DAS glaube ich erst, wenn ich es selbst gesehen habe. Also, NoLimits Coaster installiert und gestartet.

Die Achterbahn fährt los. Mit 44 Frames pro Sekunde. Wahnsinn! Wofür brauche ich überhaupt noch BootCamp?
Ausserdem sind die Fenster nicht in einem Windows-Käfig gefangen. Die beiden Systeme sind extrem miteinander verzahnt. Das Startmenü schwebt einfach über dem Dock. Was müssen das wohl für krasse Hacker sein, die sowas fertigbringen?

VMWare kann einpacken. Parallels Desktop hat mich voll überzeugt. Kein Wunder ist Steve Jobs „very excited of their work“. Heute Morgen konnten wir das „Duumäresultat“ abholen (es dürfen ja keine Noten vor der Abschlussfeier bekannt gegeben werden).

Dass das ein emotionsgeladener Morgen wird, ahnte ich schon. Besonders, weil die Experten mit den Kandidaten noch etwas spielten: „Was hän si für e Gfühl?“ – wurde ich von Herrn Mangold gefragt. Er hat die Hände vors Gesicht geschlagen und machte einen sehr ernsten Eindruck. „Aha, bestandä!“, antwortete ich, denn ich wusste dass die Experten nur bei den erfolgreichen Kandidaten Psychoterror machen.

Jetzt ist es also soweit: Wir sitzen alle im gleichen Boot und treffen bald am Ziel an. Unser Zielort ist jedoch nicht Omaha Beach, sondern eine grössere Schuhschachtel in Pratteln. Doch der längste Tag kommt erst morgen: Theorie en masse! Das fängt mit BWL an und geht dann mit Elektrotechnik und Chemie weiter… Judihui.

Wir haben jetzt eine wichtige Mission zu erfüllen: Das erfolgreiche Bestehen der Lehrabschlussprüfung. Also dann los, rein ins kalte Wasser!

Die Uhr tickt. In einer Woche wissen wir bereits, ob es gut aussieht oder eher schlecht…
Ich hab mir mal eine Prognose erstellt. Nach Studium des Büchleins „Informationen zur LAP“, gemäss den Regeln, die dort drin vermerkt sind.

Sieht ja gar nicht so übel aus! Es gibt vier Fachnoten: Allgemeine Berufsarbeiten, die IPA, Berufskenntnisse und Allgemeinbildung. Von den drei Fachnoten (ohne ABU) darf höchstens eine unter 4 sein, nicht aber unter 3.
Bei der IPA kann ich mit an Sicherheit grenzender Wahrscheinlichkeit sagen, dass dort mindestens ein 5.5 zu erwarten ist…

Dann wären noch die Allgemeinen Berufsarbeiten. Informatikaufgaben, Störungsbehebung und Softwareinstallation werden dort getestet. Das sollte eigentlich kein Problem sein – man kann sich darauf ja auch nicht besonders gross vorbereiten.

Kritischer wird’s bei den „Berufskenntnissen“: (das steht deshalb in Anführungszeichen, weil es mir und vielen anderen Leuten ein Rätsel ist, warum Informatiker denn Physik, Chemie und Rechnungswesen beherrschen müssen…) Dort scheppert es nämlich. Zum Glück sind jedoch auch Fächer wie Englisch und zwei IT-Fächer darunter, das hebt den Schnitt wieder etwas an. Zum Glück zählt nur der Endschnitt aller Noten einer Spalte – sonst hätte ich ein Problem…

Und jetzt noch die krass pessimistische Variante: Alle Informatikfächer auf Note 4, Physik/Chemie 3, BWL und Elektrotechnik 2! Und jetzt kommt eben das geile daran: Selbst DANN würde ich noch bestehen 🙂
