Übereinstimmend werden von DAU-Forschern folgende Charakterzüge als prägend beschrieben:

* Absolute technische Unbegabung, gepaart mit dem Drang die
neuesten, komplizierten Geräte besitzen zu wollen.
* Extreme Schwankungen zwischen cholerischischen Ausbrüchen
(„So eine Scheisse, das geht einfach nicht!!!!“) einerseits
und Melancholie („Drei Stunden versuch ich es jetzt schon“)
andererseits.
* Zwanghafte Ängste, nicht als Experte auf bestimmten
Fachgebieten erkannt zu werden. Geht im Normalfall Hand in Hand
mit einer absoluten Ahnungslosigkeit in ebendiesen
Fachgebieten.
* Besondere Begabung im Fremdsprachen-Bereich. Vermischt
sämtliche Sprachen zu einer Art Einheitssprache und -Ausprache,
die von keinem Sprachkundigen mehr verstanden werden
kann. Diese Kunstsprache weist auffällige Ähnlichkeiten
mit einem mittlerweile ausgestorbenen Dialekt der
Tlapa-Indianer in Süd-Mexiko auf.
* Ausgeprägtes Neugierde-Verhalten in Zusammenhang mit
rebellischer Grundhaltung gegen autoritäre Ansätze.
Aussagen wie „Diese Einstellungen sollten nur von erfahrenen
Benutzern verändert werden“ wirken durch diesen Hintergrund
als unwiderstehliche Aufforderung.
* Besonders kritische Grundhaltung gegenüber
Bildungseinrichtungen („Das muss ich nicht studiert haben,
um das zu können“).
* Neigung zu telefonischen Terrorakten. Bevorzugt zu
fortgeschrittener, nächtlicher Stunde werden Menschen,
die nur zu dieser Uhrzeit als Experten anerkannt werden,
mit Sätzen wie ´Das Ding macht plötzlich nchts mehr.
