Eine Gruppe von Kindern sitzt im Kreis am Boden. Jedes Kind hat eine Spielkarte vor sich. In der Mitte steht ein Erwachsener und erzählt etwas. Neugierig setze ich mich dazu. „Was ist das für ein Spiel?“ frage ich den Bub, der rechts neben mir sitzt. „Werwölfe.“
„Es gibt Dorfbewohner und Werwölfe. Jeder Spieler bekommt eine Spielkarte, die ihm diese Rolle zuteilt.“ erklärt er mir und fährt fort: „Es gibt eine Tag- und eine Nachtphase. Die Werwölfe bestimmen in der Nacht, welchen Dorfbewohner sie auffressen wollen. Die Dorfbewohner bestimmen am Ende des Tages jemanden, den sie umbringen wollen -- in der Hoffnung, dabei einen Werwolf zu treffen.
„Die Dorfbewohner schlafen ein“ erzählt uns der Spielleiter in der Mitte und alle schliessen ihre Augen. „Die Werwölfe wachen auf und erkennen sich.“
„Dann gibt es Spezialrollen wie die Seherin. Sie kann die Identität von einem Mitspieler beim Spielleiter erfragen. Oder das Mädchen; es darf blinzeln, während die Werwölfe wach sind.“
„Die Werwölfe haben sich entschieden. Möchte die Hexe von ihrem Zaubertrank Gebrauch machen?“
„Die Hexe?“ frage ich den Jungen. „Sie kann einmal heilen und einmal vergiften. So kann es sein, dass niemand stirbt -- oder aber dass jemand stirbt, aber niemand weiss, ob es ein Werwolf war oder die Hexe. Amor kann zwei verlieben, und wenn der eine stirbt, stirbt der andere gleich mit, weil er es ohne sein Gemahl nicht mehr aushält.“
„Die Werwölfe schlafen wieder ein. Ein neuer Tag beginnt, alle wachen auf.“ fährt der Spielleiter fort. Die Diskussionsrunde beginnt.
So langsam beginne ich zu erahnen, zu welch fantastischer Komplexität dieses simple Spiel ausarten kann. Alle sind Dorfbewohner, niemand weiss, wer die Werwölfe sind. Ein paar Spezialrollen und Menschen, die etwas mehr Wissen, es aber nicht sagen dürfen, sondern die Diskussion am Tag dann wiederum in eine andere Richtung zu lenken versuchen, ohne dabei zu einer Rolle verdächtigt zu werden. Heisser Scheiss!
Die Mädchen zeigen alle auf den einen Jungen. „Er soll umgebracht werden!“ Die Kinder sind da noch spontaner in ihrer Entscheidungsfindung. Gruppendruck, Aussehen, Verhalten, Gekicher und Verplapperer spielen alles mit rein. In einer Erwachsenenrunde finden regelrechte Diskussionen und Intrigen statt. Hochspannend!
Auf der zerklüfteten Hochebene des Hunsrücks liegt das kleine Dorf Düsterwald. Seit einiger Zeit wird das Dorf jede Nacht von Werwölfen heimgesucht. Die Dorfbewohner versuchen herauszufinden, wer unter ihnen zu den Werwölfen gehört, bevor sie alle den Werwölfen zum Opfer fallen…
Werwolf oder Dorfbewohner? Sie erhalten geheim eine Karte , die ihre Identität bestimmt. Unter Anweisung des Spielleiters spielen sie ihre Rolle.
Sie sind Werwolf: Ihr Ziel: Jede Nacht einen Dorfbewohner zu fressen. Tagsüber sind sie ein ehrenwerter Bürger.
Sie sind Dorfbewohner: Ihr Ziel: Die Werwölfe zu entdecken und die anderen Spieler davon zu überzeugen, diese unschädlich zu machen (sie sollten dabei vermeiden, selbst für einen Werwolf gehalten zu werden). Keine leichte Aufgabe. Aber glücklicherweise gibt es ein paar Dorfbewohner mit speziellen Fähigkeiten: Die alte Seherin, der Jäger, die Hexe… Sie werden hilfreich sein, die Werwölfe zu besiegen.
