»Unter dem Begriff „Amateurfunkdienst“ ist ein technisch-experimenteller Funkdienst, der die Verwendung von Erd- und Weltraumfunkstellen einschließt und der von Funkamateuren für die eigene Ausbildung, für den Verkehr der Funkamateure untereinander, insbesondere zur Durchführung von Not- und Katastrophenfunkverkehr, und für technische Studien betrieben wird, zu verstehen.«
Wenn alle Telefone tot sind, das Internet ausfällt und nichts mehr geht; dann bleibt nur noch eine Möglichkeit, wie Menschen über weite Entfernungen in Kontakt bleiben können: Amateurfunk. Immer wieder bin ich daraufgestossen, immer wieder hat mich die Amateurfunkprüfung mit ihren Formeln und Elektrotechnik abgeschreckt. Bis im letzten Hackerfunk Podcast das Thema nochmals aufgegriffen wurde.
Der Amateurfunk ist ein weltumspannender Funkdienst und ignoriert Unterschiede in der Rasse, dem Stand und in der politischen Weltanschauung. Er trägt daher viel zur Völkerverständigung bei.
Ein direkter Kontakt zu Menschen aus aller Welt und in Krisengebieten, ohne Vermittler, Provider oder Nachrichtensprecher dazwischen? Kulturüberbrückende Kommunikation, welche die Ländergrenzen aufhebt und uns wieder als Menschheit wahrnehmen lässt? Spätestens jetzt blinkt bei mir ein grünes Lämpchen.
Es ist ja geradezu erstaunlich, dass ein Kommunikationsdienst, unabhängig von Firmen und Konzernen, überhaupt noch zugelassen ist. In einer Welt, die alles kontrollieren und überwachen will…
Als Funkamateur darf man sogar seine eigenen Antennen bauen und mit richtig viel Leistung senden. Wie konnte so ein freiheitlicher Dienst bis heute überleben? Das soll uns erhalten bleiben! Ich stelle mir das ziemlich geil vor; ein Boomfestival über Funkwellen, man ist verbunden mit allen Kulturen aus aller Welt; direkte Kommunikation mit Betroffenen aus Krisengebieten, ohne auf die verfälschten Nachrichten aus der Presse angewiesen zu sein. Amateurfunk ist wahrlich ein journalistisches Werkzeug.
Es ist, als wären Funkamateure als eigenes Sternenvolk aus dem Weltraum gekommen: „Bevölkert die Erde. Stellt überall Antennen auf und errichtet ein unabhängiges Kommunikationsnetz!“ Die Polarforschungsstation ist genauso mit Amateurfunk ausgerüstet wie die Raumstation ISS. Die haben sogar eigene Amateurfunksatelliten in die Umlaufbahn geschossen. Und alle sind mit allen verbunden, und in dieser Gemeinschaft pflegt man einen sehr guten Umgang und sorgt füreinander. Der Ham Spirit, ein Ehrenkodex der Funkamateure.
Funkamateure sollen sich auch international dem Geist der Weltoffenheit, Technikbegeisterung, Toleranz, Menschlichkeit und selbstlosen Hilfsbereitschaft widmen. Ziel und Zweck des Amateurfunkdienstes ist die Wissenschaft und Forschung, Bildung und Erziehung, Völkerverständigung, aber auch die Unterstützung der Behörden beim Aufbau von Nachrichtenverbindungen in Katastrophenfällen.
Nach den Regeln des Ham Spirit agieren die Funkamateure ungeachtet gesellschaftlicher Unterschiede wie Hautfarbe, Sprache, Religion oder politischer Gesinnung des Gesprächspartners. Es werden weder politische, religiöse, militärische noch kommerzielle Zwecke im Amateurfunkdienst verfolgt.
Das gefällt mir! Es ist nicht mal besonders die Technik, die mich fasziniert – Technik gibt es überall. Aber die Tatsache, dass ein unabhängiges Kommunikationsnetz Völker und Kulturen verbindet – da bin ich sofort dabei!

OMG. Die machen ein Meshnetz über weite Entfernung, und als Funkamateure haben sie das Privileg, Frequenzen zu nutzen und mit Leistungen zu senden, die Normalsterblichen verwehrt bleiben. Ich will auch!
Am 15. September startet Scoutnet ein Amateurfunk-Ausbildungskurs als Fernkurs. Das Timing ist perfekt. Zeit habe ich eigentlich keine, Geld auch nicht, aber hey: Das hat jetzt so stark resoniert, ich muss es einfach tun.
