Ihr wisst ja bestimmt, dass wenn man die Strahlen der Sonne mit einer Lupe bündelt, man damit ein Feuer entfachen kann.

Nun – findige Architekten haben gedacht, dass man das auch mit einem Gebäude machen kann – um Autos zu brutzeln! 😀

Wolkenkratzer bringt Autos zum Schmelzen

Noch nicht einmal fertig gebaut, bietet das gläserne Hochhaus namens Walkie Talkie in London bereits reichlich Grund zum Ärger. Das 37-stöckige Glasgebäude im Finanzbezirk der britischen Hauptstadt lässt Autos schmelzen. Grund ist die konkave Architektur des 160-Meter-Hauses.

Der Unternehmer Martin Lindsay traute seinen Augen kaum, als er letzte Woche zu seinem parkierten Jaguar XJ zurückkehrte. Zwei Stunden zuvor hatte er seinen Luxuswagen an der 20 Fenchurch Street parkiert – unwissend, dass dieser dort wie eine Ameise unter einer Lupe braten würde.

Plastikgestank

Gegenüber der britischen Zeitung «City A.M.» schildert er den Anblick wie folgt: «Das Auto sah furchtbar aus – jedes Stück Plastik auf der linken Seite und alles auf dem Armaturenbrett war geschmolzen.» Auf der Strasse habe es überall nach angeschmolzenem Plastik gestunken.

Nach dem ersten Schock entdeckte er einen Notizzettel auf der Frontscheibe: «Ihr Auto ist verformt, rufen Sie uns bitte zurück», teilte ihm der Bauunternehmer des Wolkenkratzers mit. Die rund 946 Pfund Reparaturkosten wurden von der Firma zurückerstattet.
