Wie es dazu kam? Er wurde vom CCC angefragt: Das Javascript-Blinkenlights sei eine prima Sache; ob man das auch für Arcade– und Stereoscope-Movies verwenden kann?

Arcade: Da kommen 8 Helligkeitsstufen hinzu. Nicht allzuviel Aufwand.

Stereoscope: Das sind 4 (!!) Screens, die synchronisiert ein Blinkenmovie abspielen.

Tja, wie mach‘ ich das jetzt. Das JS-Blinkenlights ist ein Gebäude, bestehend aus einem Fenstergrid. Das Teil lädt ein XML, hat Frames, Timer und spielt das Filmchen ab.

Jetzt das Ganze mal 4.
Claude möchte aber nicht 3x Code kopieren; sondern einmal ein Gebäude mit den Funktionalitäten erstellen, und das Teil soll dann dupliziert werden und die 4 Screens sollen dann eigenständig laufen. Mit eigenen XMLs, Frames und Timern.

Langsam begreift auch Claude: Jetzt ist es Zeit für objektorientiertes Javascript!

Vor rund einem Monat hat das EJPD die dreissig Millionen Franken teure Anlage bestellt. Bis im nächsten Sommer soll sie von SMS und MMS über E-Mails bis zu Telefongesprächen via Internet alles mitschneiden können.

Kleines Projekt, entstanden an ein paar verregneten Nachmittagen:

Blinkentube – das ist Blinkenlights im Browser!

Blinkenlights erblickte 2001 die Lichter der Welt. Ein Hochhaus mit 8 Stockwerken und 18 Fensterreihen – platziert man hinter jedes Fenster einen Scheinwerfer, ergibt das ein Display mit 18×8 Pixeln.
Jeder konnte mit Blinkenpaint seine eigenen Blinkenlights-Movies erstellen und auf dem Gebäude abspielen lassen.

Es gab zahlreiche Folgeprojekte und Nachbauten. Blinkenlights mit LEDs, Simulatoren, räumliche Blinkenlights, Wände, Uhren, C64 Lights und viele mehr.
Ein Nachbau fehlte mir aber auf dieser Liste: Blinkenlights im Browser.

Ich habe mit Blinkenpaint herumgespielt, und es fiel mir auf, dass die CPU-Auslastung konstant auf 100% war. Und die Animationen spielten sich eher etwas langsamer ab. Auch das Laden eines Blinkenmovies (eine XML-Datei) kann schon mal 2 Sekunden dauern…
Ich habe mich gefragt: Ist es wirklich so rechenaufwändig, ein paar Lichter an- und auszuschalten? Geht das auch in meinem Browser?

Und ob!
Nach einem Abend habe ich die Lichter (ok, „1“ und „0“ in einer HTML-Tabelle) zufallsmässig an- und ausgeschaltet. Läuft prima.
Hmm… Ich muss ja das Rad nicht neu erfinden. Warum nicht gleich Blinkenmovies laden und abspielen? Ob das Parsen von 3000 Zeilen XML wohl genug schnell geht?

Und ob!
Am nächsten Abend spielt ein Blinkenmovie in meinem Browser. Das Parsen geht *zagg* *bumm* – sofort da. Wonderful.

Aber die HTML-Tabelle ist hässlich. Wenn schon, dann jetzt mit den Originalbildern der leuchtenden Fenster.

Tabellenlos. Und es läuft immer noch tipptopp in Echtzeit und ohne gröbere CPU-Belastung…
Und – das hat mir dann die Schuhe ausgezogen – selbst im IE6! 😛

Schmieriger, schleimiger Inhalt. Hält einen harten Kern im Innern. Ein Alienembryo? Scheint tot zu sein.

Entscheid oraler Probe. Die schmierige Schutzmasse sieht aus wie die Extrakte einer Kläranlage. Erwarte entsprechenden Geruch.

…sass ich wieder mal an einem geselligen Tisch. Mit mir waren wir 5 Personen, darunter 2, die noch nach Hause fahren mussten.

„Ob wir denn noch Wein dazu möchten?“, fragte die Serviererin.
Für mich war im vornherein klar, dass ich auf Wein verzichte.

1. Person: „Also i bruuch nid unbedingt öbbis.“
2. Person: „Denn nimm i au nüt.“
3. Person: „I muess no fahre.“
4. Person (Ich): „Nei.“

5. Person: „Ach, hmm? Also i nehmt gärn e schlüggli wyy.“

1. Person: „Denn nimm i au.“
2. Person: „Do bini au drbii.“
3. Person: „Ei Glas.“
4. Person: „Nei.“ (und „figg di“ in Gedanken)
5. Person: „Du nimmsch nüt?“

Ratet mal, wer jetzt das schwarze Schaf ist…

Das sind ja interessante Gruppendynamiken. Erst verzichten alle drauf. Wenn aber nur EINE Person Wein trinkt, dann ändern alle schlagartig ihre Meinung!
Oder haben alle Angst zu sagen, was sie wollen, und warten dann auf die Gelegenheit, dass sich jemand getraut, sich für Wein zu entscheiden, damit man sich dann unschuldig anschliessen kann?

Umfrageergebnisse in der „Weltwoche“: Breite Mehrheiten für Beitritt zur Schweiz

Kein Witz: Deutsche, Franzosen, Italiener und Österreicher möchten der Eidgenossenschaft beitreten

Am 11. Juni berichtete eigentümlich frei online über eine kleine Sensation: Führende Politiker der Schweizer Volkspartei „fordern eine Verfassungsänderung, nach der Regionen angrenzender EU-Staaten als Schweizer Kantone den Beitritt zur Eidgenossenschaft beantragen können. Aus Frankreich sollen das Elsass, Jura, Ain und Savoyen, aus Italien Aosta, Bozen und Varese, aus Österreich der Vorarlberg und aus Deutschland Baden-Württemberg beitreten dürfen. Die Menschen jener Regionen litten unter ihrer nationalen und europäischen politischen Klasse und wünschten eine Demokratie der Nähe mit menschlichem Antlitz.“

Im aktuellen Heft (ef 104) kommentiert der Herausgeber: „Da berichten deutsche Zeitungen empört über eine Initiative der Schweizer Volkspartei, die eine Verfassungsänderung beantragt, nach der auf Wunsch Regionen aus Nachbarländern der Schweiz beitreten dürften. Schweizintern ist es eine Initiative, die den EU-Beitrittswunsch der Linken im Lande ad absurdum führen möchte. Und wie reagieren deutsche Leser etwa im Internet bei Welt.de?

Weit mehr als 90 Prozent sind schlicht begeistert und wollen ‚lieber heute als morgen Schweizer werden’. Unzählige Deutsche flehen: ‚Nehmt uns auch auf!’ – während doch eigentlich die patriotische Welle zur Fußball-WM anrollen sollte. Als die Stimmung gegen die hiesige Politik allzu offensichtlich wird, schließt die ‚Welt’ wieder einmal den Kommentarbereich.“
