Kabelnetzbetreiber Martens baut schnelles Glasfasernetz

Der Hamburger Kabelnetzbetreiber Martens will in Hamburg ein modernes Glasfasernetz aufbauen und darüber Internetzugänge mit symmetrischen Bandbreiten von bis zu 300 MBit/s anbieten. Bereits Ende Oktober 2007 sollen erste Kunden an das Netz angeschlossen werden.

Martens rüstet dazu sein Glasfaser-Stadtnetz auf und will Ende Oktober 2007 den ersten 7.000 Kunden in Hamburg-Bergedorf Internetzugänge mit bis zu 300 MBit/s anbieten – symmetrisch, das heißt 300 MBit/s im Up- und Downstream. 2008 sollen dann auch Haushalte in anderen Stadtteilen den schnellen Internetzugang nutzen können. Martens spricht von mehr als 20.000 Hamburger Haushalten, die Ende 2008 an das Netz angeschlossen sein werden.

Die Kosten für die Glasfaser-Anschlüsse sollen inklusive Flatrate unter 100,- Euro pro Monat liegen. Ob die Bandbreite dann pro Haushalt zur Verfügung steht oder sich mehrere Kunden diese teilen müssen, ist derzeit nicht bekannt.

Voraussetzung für einen Anschluss bei Martens ist allerdings, dass das jeweilige Wohnungsunternehmen Kunde bei Martens ist. Insgesamt betreut Martens rund 130.000 Wohnungen in Norddeutschland.
