Da ich mich nun für ein Jahr mit Unix-Systemen befassen muss, habe mich nun soeben für einen vServer mit SSH-Root Zugang bei Hostorama entschieden. So als kleine Spielwiese für diverse lustige Experimente… Bringt irgendwie schon noch Vorteile, so ein Server. Nicht nur, dass man sich das Internet mit SSH vorbei am Proxy an den Arbeitsplatz Tunneln kann, sondern auch 14 GB Speicherplatz und eine fette Internetleitung. Der Traffic ist zwar nicht ganz unbegrenzt, aber grosszügig bemessen: 250 GB. Das alles für 80.- ein halbes Jahr lang – da kann man sich wirklich nicht beklagen.
Endlich habe ich mal Root-Zugang auf ein Linux-System, welches permanent läuft und am Internet ist.
Wie wär’s, wenn ich dort einen VPN-Server einrichte und wir alle per Internet zu einem LAN zusammengeschlossen würden?
Oder mit Samba Netzlaufwerke einrichte, die von überall aus erreichbar wären?
eMule und Bittorrent laufen sicher auch flott bei so einer Anbindung… 😀

Abo auswählen, Adresse eingeben, Absenden. Wenige Sekunden später kriegt man ein Mail und kann sich auf dem Webinterface einloggen. Und dort traute ich meinen Augen nicht:

Ja, es ist ein Blondinen-Linux. Gab nix besseres. Ich hatte die Auswahl zwischen RedHat und SuSE. Doch mit RedHat habe ich noch keine guten Erfahrungen gemacht…
Auch der SSH-Login funktioniert, wie gewohnt wird man mit Have a lot of fun… begrüsst.
Und auf dem Webinterface könnte man auch schon diverse Spielereien installieren:
Es ist schon nett, dass man solche Sachen per Webinterface installieren kann, aber mir fehlt der Reiz der ganzen Administration. Jetzt wo sich endlich mal die Möglichkeit der Fernadministration per SSH eröffnet hat, möchte ich das auch nutzen und mich auf der Shell austoben. Mein privates Informatik Trainingsgelände sozusagen…
