Die Weihnachtsgeschenke treffen dieses Jahr aber früh ein… Jaaaa, da liegt es nun. Das Resultat eines unwiederstehlichen Angebots: Ein brandneues iBook!
Captain Crakk hat in einem vorherigen Beitrag [Link] ein 12′ iBook zum Verkauf angeboten. Zuerst dachte ich, naja, hab momentan ja sowieso keine Kohle.

*klick* – jetzt wirds aber interessant! Was für ein Zufall, wenige Tage, nachdem ich den IPCop in Betrieb genommen habe, stosse ich auf so ein unglaubliches Angebot!
Der IPCop hat ja den Linuxserver ersetzt, und dieser war ehemals eine Gamerkiste. Nun, Crakk kann mit einem iBook wenig anfangen, und bei mir steht diese klobige Gamerkiste nur herum – das tönt nach einem perfekten Tauschgeschäft!
Und so kam es dann auch. Wintel gegen iBook. Aber was für eines: 1GB Ram, AirPort (WLAN) und alles was man braucht. Die Grafikkarte ist sogar einen Tick besser als die beim Mac mini, und ein eingebautes Mikrofon fehlt auch nicht. Somit kann ich endlich wieder Skype’ln…
Edelschrott entsorgen und dafür ein iBook geschenkt bekommen. Im Gegenzug schraubte ich die beste Grafikkarte, die ich noch rumliegen hatte und meine edelste Festplatte in die Kiste und machte mich an eine Windows-XP Neuinstallation. Die Installation & Konfiguration des iBooks dauerte etwa 20 Minuten. Dabei wurden sämtliche(!) Einstellungen und Programme meines Mac mini übertragen – fast wie geklont. Und das in 20 Minuten. Der Rest des Abends ging für die Neuinstallation von Windows drauf – ohne Programme und Einstellungen natürlich… 😛
Mit iChat über Bonjour ein bisschen im LAN untereinander plaudern, im Bett liegen und auf Wikipedia stöbern, oder raus an die frische (kalte!) Luft auf eine Wardriving-Session… Dank der kompakten Bauweise schleppt man auch nicht viel rum. Und trotz dieses relativ kleinen Displays spielt das iBook DVDs und HD-Videos (jedenfalls in der geringsten Auflösung) flüssig ab.
So ein iBook, das hat’s schon in sich. Hoffentlich ist auch mein alter PC brauchbar und die vereinbarte Probezeit bald vorüber. Wieder hergeben würde ich’s nur sehr ungern…
Greg, ich weiss gar nicht wie ich dir danken soll. Das ist wohl das beste was mir passieren konnte; ein echtes Highlight. Ich würde sagen eine typische Win-Win Situation…

Mir isches mehr als recht. De PC geht huett zobe an dr Sohn, vom oberste JVC Lieferant. Und die werde mehr als glücklich si drmit. Er hett nid mehr brucht und de „Dusch“ hett mir meeeehr als numme 1 Vorteil brocht. Wenni mol e fette Verstärker oder Digicam bruch, weissi jetzt woni ahnemuess zum’s vrgünschtigt zkriege. Ich ha mehreri Fliege mit einere Klappe gschlage.
