Etwas ungewiss begaben wir uns heute morgen nach Balsthal: Ist noch ein Gleitschirm für mich frei? Ich besitze ja noch keinen eigenen, somit muss ich mir einen von der Flugschule leihen.

Doch gleich nach der Ankunft hiess es: „Claude, du nimmst heute den Axis 3, Grösse 26!“
YES!
Auf gehts Richtung Landeplatz, wo uns Oskar, Flugschulleiter, die Theorie des Landens erklärt. Nach einer kurzen Pause in der Beiz wegen Regenschauer gings los: Zwei Transporter fuhren hoch Richtung Startplatz. Es wehte zwar ein bisschen Rückenwind, aber der legte sich bald wieder. Ich legte meinen Gleitschirm aus, und schon bald starteten die ersten Piloten. Endlich ist es soweit! Das Segel ist ausgelegt, die Leinen sortiert. Einhängen und alles gemäss 5-Punkte Check überprüfen:

1. Helm geschlossen, alle Gurte geschlossen?
2. Leinen frei? Insbesondere die A- und Bremsleinen (Ein Gleitschirm hat 4 Leinenpaare; A-D und ein Bremsleinenpaar.)
3. Eintrittskante offen?
4. Wind passend? Naja, ein sanfter Rückenwind…
5. Luftraum frei? Point of no Return? (Der Punkt, wo es kein zurück gibt; bis da kann der Start abgebrochen werden.)

Die Startleiterin gibt das OK, ich legte mich ins Gurtzeug und zog die 28 Quadratmeter Stoff hoch…
Nach einem kurzen Kontrollblick folgt die Beschleunigungsphase – und schwupp! Schon bin ich in der Luft! Uiuiui, der Boden entfernt sich ja immer weiter… Unten sehe ich zwei Spaziergänger, der Wind bläst mir ins Gesicht. Endlich Höhenflüge! Voller Freude steuere ich zwischen zwei Waldzonen hindurch, raus in die Freiheit! Es ist ganz schön hoch hier. Plötzlich erfasst mich eine Windböhe, der Gleitschirm kippt kurz zur Seite weg, und das Gurtzeug wackelt ein wenig. Meine Güte, habe ich wirklich alle Gurte geschlossen? Jetzt wirds mir doch ein wenig unwohl. Ich bin ganz alleine hier oben, ganz den Naturgewalten ausgeliefert. Wo befindet sich der Notschirmgriff? Was, wenn sich der Schirm plötzlich nicht mehr kontrollieren lässt? Vorsichtshalber ziehe ich die Bremsleinen ein wenig an, um den Staudruck in der Kappe zu erhöhen. Ich habe nun echt kein Bock auf Einklapper. Und jetzt will der dort unten noch, dass ich in dieser „turbulenten“ Luft auch noch Kurven fliege?? Zum zuschauen sieht alles ganz einfach aus, aber wenn man mal mittendrin ist ist das doch etwas ganz anderes! Jetzt merke ich, wie extrem wichtig die Zeit am Übungshang war, und wie wichtig der 5-Punkte Check ist.
Der Wald schiebt sich langsam weg, und das gelbe Farbband, das in einem 30m breiten Kreis den Landeplatz markiert, wird sichtbar. Im Zentrum dieses Kreises befindet sich ein Tuch. Dort soll ich also landen?
Wow, diese Aussicht! Es ist, als würde ich lautlos in einer riesigen Modelleisenbahnanlage schweben! Schon strecke ich die Hand aus, um ein paar missratene Häuser umzuplatzieren. Doch die sind weit weit entfernt. Man nimmt die ganze Landschaft plötzlich als Raum wahr, in dem man zu jedem beliebigen Ort schweben kann. Etwas unterhalb von mir spiralt sich ein Gleitschirm in die Tiefen. Das blüht mir auch bald. Ich habe mich zwar immer auf die Steilspirale gefreut, doch momentan reicht mir das Schaukeln, dass der Wind verursacht. Neben dem Landekreis steht ein Pünktlein; Oskar, der sich auch gleich per Funk meldet: „Jetzt fliegst du 90° nach rechts.“ – Vorsichtig ziehe ich an der rechten Steuerleine. Der Schirm fängt sofort an, sich ganz sanft zu Drehen. Das geht ja noch besser als am Übungshang! „Jetzt 180° Linkskurve – jawohl, gut.“
Es klappt hervorragend. Die Luft ist wieder ruhig geworden. Der Landeplatz nähert sich… „Es hat zuviel Gegenwind, wir fliegen S-Kurven. Links, rechts – wieder links, links bleiben…“ Jetzt erkenne ich auch die anderen Piloten, die schon gelandet sind. Der Landekreis kommt immer näher. Das ist das geile: Eine Modelleisenbahnlandschaft, die man begehen kann!
Jetzt nur noch eine Linkskurve, ich befinde mich tatsächlich schon im Landekreis! Ich steuere direkt auf das Tuch zu – kurz davor ziehe ich die Bremsen voll durch – paff, Landung zwei Meter neben dem Zentrum des 30m Landekreises! Super!

Der erste Höhenflug konnte nicht besser sein. Trotz dass ich noch keinen eigenen Schirm habe, habe ich mein Ziel erreicht: Wenigstens einen Höhenflug diese Woche!

Das Bild oben ist übrigens nicht von diesem Flug. Ich musste mich auf viele andere Dinge konzentrieren als auf Fotos. Doch die werden später sicher noch kommen, der Sommer ist noch lang!
